Texts to my Tab S4

Does Mightytext require the phone to be on? You know that you can use Verizon's Message+ and text from a wifi tablet from anywhere even if you leave your phone at home or off.
Yes, as far as I know. There's a companion app for MT that you need to install on your phone, so I gotta imagine that the phone needs to be on in order for the companion app to recognize the incoming text and push it to your tablet. I don't really ever power off my phone for extended periods of time other than when I go to the movies or someplace else that a cell phone would be inappropriate.

I used MT for the last 2 years or so on my Chromebook and it was amazing, but I've been having some sync issues with my tablet. Incoming messages are constantly taking 2-3 minutes to push to my tablet. Outgoing I send from my tablet are syncing up almost immediately. MT support emailed back and forth with me offering suggestions and it seemed like we had a solution, but a few days later the same problem resurfaced. Fortunately, I'm not a big texter, so this isn't a huge deal for me....I've never even come close to maxing out on the 100 texts per month cap they have for free users.
