The presentation was done yesterday, and the biggest take away for me was the pricing of $349 to $17,000 depending on edition, size, strap, and metal. As a tech enthusiast, I have been intrigued from day one, but I am still on the fence of getting one, cuz it'll cost me another $800 to buy an IPhone to use the watch. I would like to stop by an Apple store to play with it first before I make my decision.

I think it would be like me taking a step back to my gear 1... + heart rate monitoring, apple pay and sending touches.

Not enough for me to have interest in it and I think it is overpriced as most 1st gens are. (I did not get my gear 1 until best buy sold them 1/2 price) I just can't see going back to Apple for my primary phone and I am beyond my carry 2 phones stage of my life. I have an iPad 2 air and a Macbook Pro but the iPhones bore me even with Jailbreak. I have owned 3 of them and I always come back to Android. My coworker went back to Apple for the 6 and she was back less than 6 months later with a Note Edge.

Enjoy if you do try it out and please post your thoughts in opinions. I just really can't see anything being better than having a Gear S at the moment. I feel kinda naked when I don't have it on which is a VERY rare moment. :)

I think apples marketing team really don't understand the concept of wearable tech. What happens when the next tech iteration of the apple watch is out what are you going to do with last years model you bought for $550.00 or $17,000? In the high fashion market industry people are looked down upon for wearing last years model. I guess you have to be rich to keep up with the apple watch.

I seen the Apple watch presentation also. Did you hear how the CEO announced "The all day battery" and everyone in the audience clapped. Great marketing scem for a battery that might last 18 hours. This would stop me from getting the apple watch. All android Wear and Samsung Gear watches get at least 30 to 48 hours of battery use before having to recharge the battery. This fact alone would be a step backwards for any wearable tech watch.

I applaud Apple's effort, and it'll be interesting to know how many existing Apple phone users will buy the Apple Watch after 3 months of release. I doubt there will be many Android users jumping ship since there are plenty of options for them already. I hope Apple can pull it off though.

re the presentation - i didn't get the use case for the supermodel turned maternal health advocate /marathon runner
so she's shown training with the iwatch and the iPhone strapped to her arm but then she's wearing it in the kilimanjaro half-marathon with no sign of the host phone -- is she just using it as a watch/timer - what other standalone functions could it have?
- when she thanks apple for he;ping her achieve her goals or whatever, does she just simply mean thanks for the nice fitness tracker i use when training?

Chances are, if you're wearing a smartwatch by the end of this year, it's going to be made by Apple care of its Apple Watch or powered by Google's Android Wear platform.

There's also a very good chance you know which one is right for you based on the phone you already own. Apple Watch works with iOS 8 and Android Wear works with, you guessed it, Android.

However, there's still an excellent debate as to which smartwatch delivers the best on-wrist experience: Apple's one smartwatch or Android Wear's many, many watches.
