For anybody else who is interested, I asked Punit Soni (VP of product at Motorola) on Google+ if the droids will also get the big camera fix update the Moto X already got. He simply said "yes they will." Looks like we shouldn't be left out, though who knows when it will happen.

I choose to maintain my pessimistic outlook while also not caring. If it gets here, it gets here.

I for one would like to see it. I use the camera a lot and while its not terrible, I miss having the great pics my note2 took.

Using my Moto Droid Maxx

Ok ...what's so bad that this update will fix? Moto has never had great cameras, do we believe an update will magically make this a top camera phone. (nope)!

I personally don't think any phone produces very good photos unless the lighting is absolutely perfect, but it's well documented that the camera on the new droids and the X is not good (color reproduction on my maxx is bad and people sometimes look plasticky in, you guessed it, not so good lighting). And reports are that the quality is much improved for those X owners who have the update. So even though it won't magically become a great camera phone, it appears to be a noticeable improvement.

A 3rd party app won't help with picture quality?

Depends on what's wrong worth the camera. Is it hardware, drivers, or just the camera app itself? The first two make it more difficult.

Sent from my Droid Maxx, the bigger, better, longer lasting cousin of the Moto X.

Seeing the official list of updates for the X, nothing there about the Square mic issue that prevents us from processing credit cards...

I don't have a need to process credit cards, but I know a lot of people who do. It is very surprising that the new Droids do not support the square. I am having trouble with my Bank of America app. Every time I click to take a picture of a check the app stops working. Grrr.

Caring about posting here has nothing to do with software updates. I like throwing my opinion around much more than anything else.
