The Cancellation of the Note 7

On a recalled phone? They are not going to charge a restocking fee on something they are taking in after the manufacturer is recalling them.

Re: Note 7 on Vacation + FAA ban = OMG!

I finally found a Verizon store 30 mins from Disneyland with a S7 Edge, they promised to hold it for me but were selling it to someone else when I got there. Thankfully her friend was also flying today and exchanging so she knew my situation and offered up the phone. I am at LAX now and Southwest is announcing no one with a Note 7 allowed on. Notices all over the airport.

Verizon is charging the upgrade fee.

Going back to Note 4. I'll wait to see what happens with the GS8, and what happened with the Note 7. I'd like a Note 8, if they make them. Perhaps they'll just make a S8 and an S8 Pro (slightly bigger, with pen, and a couple of more bells and whistles).

I was going to hold on to my Note 7 until my Pixel XL comes in next week, but the FAA ban and my flight tomorrow kind of put a stop to that. Luckily, I still have my OG Moto X (best phone I've ever owned, by the way), so I swapped sim cards yesterday and I'll be using it for the rest of this week. Sad to see the Note go, but I'm happy to finally get this over with.

I don't think the Note brand will be gone, at least I hope not. This is just a very unfortunate and unusual event that has happened with Samsung. I feel like I never had enough time with the Note 7 to fully appreciate it. The first recall came, and I returned the phone. By the time I decided to go back and purchase another one, I couldn't.

The only thing I didn't like about the phone was the much-discussed stutter. My Iphone 7 Plus stutters here and there also, so I guess consistent smoothness throughout the system is not a priority anymore. Hopefully the Pixel will be different.

UPDATE on my situation. T-Mobile has called me and told me to back up my info, wipe the phone out (factory reset), and will allow me to abandon the device. They're going to wipe out the balance of the phone, and refund whatever I've paid into it.

Wow, so you can power down the device, place it in a fire proof box, ship it via ground delivery back to your home and have a collector's item a few years down the road.

I thought transportation of the Note was only banned from flight not ground? Couldn't anyone in this predicament just ship it to your home address by ground delivery services?

"UPS says it will only allow ground shipments of the Note 7 in special packaging. The US Postal service also says it'll only allow ground shipments."

That is an option if you're on the continent. Not so much if you're overseas...

Re: Samsung Offering $100 to Loyal Customers

I've noticed a couple Note 7 phone givewaways. I'm curious if they end up sending a different phone to the winner. or if you get a note 7 if you can send it in for another samsung phone

I don't think the line is done for but I'd be shocked if they kept the "Note" name, too much bad press associated with it. I'm hoping that when Samsung releases the S8 series they have an S8 Plus or whatever they call it that is basically the Note but I think that's probably wishful thinking.
