The cost of the Pixel/Pixel XL

Samsung phones come with much more to justify the price. The price of the Pixels isn't justified.

What is much more? Just cramming in a bunch of disjointed features doesn't make them justify the price. Have owned every Samsung flagship and can say if Samsung, iPhones are justified by the price, Pixel's are justified as well. Sure it may not fit your needs that's why there are options at every price point.

Lot of folks just don't get how important software and overall experience is, just fall for marketing and gimmicks. There is a market for everything.

Actually I can disagree on it -- Just because someone tosses a bunch of crap onto it doesn't make it better. "More things" doesn't equal "worth the price" in my book.

Exactly people just fall for the "this has a bunch of features" marketing pitch every time. This strategy has worked very well for Samsung and their carrier partners to demo a bunch of cool gimmicks and make a sale.
Granted there are a bunch of great things about the latest Samsung phones but just saying they are worth because they have tons of features just for the sake of it doesn't make sense.

Actually, additional features for the same price does equal more value, whether you personally value those features or not.

Agreed. I mean having a lot of features isn't always a bad thing but just because it may have a few extra tweaks doesn't just mean that it is 100% factually better -- that is a matter of opinion. The only thing I don't have is the S-Pen features. While they're nice they aren't a "must have" for me so the feature isn't really a big deal if I don't have it. Now if someone runs a business or something and signing documents all day then I could see very well how the S-Pen is a staple "must have" feature for them. It would make complete sense for them.

I get how important software is. That is why I recognize the value of the additional software features you get with Samsungs and that you don't get with the Pixels, not to mention the additional hardware features.

Any objective reviewer will tell you the Pixels are overpriced.

It'll take two years until we can see the actual cost of the device. If it ages well (maintains its speed for example and is kept up-to-date) and lasts a few years, it might turn out to be much better value than most other Android phones which are usually obsolete within a year or less.

Agreed... but frankly this is just another Google phone. Bluetooth issues, reception issues, camera issues, Android Auto issues (which is a new first).

The software experience is typically Google, and I don't see it being appreciably better than Nexus phones of the past.

Again, there are tons people who value overall software experience (not just additional suggested features), up to date software and security updates, carrier free, pure google experience etc. That's worth the price for many, may be not for you.
Just don't value that doesn't mean others can't. The Pixel is overpriced I give that, but the iPhone 7, S7, Note 7 are also overpriced for me. If have to choose among those overpriced phones I choose iPhone 7 and Pixel. You may choose something else based on your needs and what you value. That is perfectly reasonable and fine.

Go to any device forum on any website and then comeback to me. Literally the same complaints for every phone, doesn't matter if it's LG, Samsung, Google or Apple.

And camera? Lol I prefer to use the Pixel camera over the iPhone 7 plus which says something. And it's just not my opinion it's almost every reviewer opinion. The lens flare issue? May be that affects some shots, hasn't affected me that much but Google will fix it in a software update if they think there is a problem. No device or software is bug free, doesn't matter how much you pay. It's how they handle and fix the bugs is important. Given its a Pixel and not a carrier controlled Samsung or LG phone, they can fix it via a software update quickly if needed just like Apple does on iPhones.

The amount of mental gymnastics Pixel owners go through to reach their conclusions is mind-boggling. Only Pixel and iPhone owners will tell you that paying more for less is a good value. There is literally no reason to buy a Pixel over a Nexus 6P.

Now Google is "in charge of everything" and wants to go mainstream and compete with Apple. That means they're gonna need to get their act together as these are premium products and not half finished free services and discounted developer phones.

So far I am not seeing it, and that is the most disappointing thing to me about the Pixel. That, and what I feel is a little truth stretching about who really engineered this phone.

OK what are these Bluetooth issues? It connects fine to me car via Bluetooth where I can play music and I can also pair perfectly with my moto 360, bose Bluetooth headphones. It's working just like every other android phone I have owned till now. I saw similar complaints on S7 and Note forums and even on those phones I didn't have any issues. I'm glad it's not affecting me but I won't deny if it affects you or some other because everyone's setup, usage scenario is different.

You aren't achieving anything arguing if it's worth or not. The people who bought it thought it's worth. If it's not then they will return the phone. I think no point arguing I guess.

Just Google it. They have acknowledged the issues and are (once again) reaching out to users for more info.

I am glad that everything works at your end... it didn't here. And it doesn't for a lot of other folks. Here, the software user experience you speak so highly of (and which I agree is paramount) is better on my Nexus than it was with the Pixel.

I imagine they'll eventually get things worked out as they usually do (which is why updates are so important). My point is the out of box experience for a premium phone should be better than that of a developer device.
