I have a serious problem with my phone storage. You see the Facebook app, as cumbersome a size as it is, became somehow erratic when it comes to its size. One minute it shrinks down to 100 MB then one minute later it clambers up to 600 MB. It's like a variable star shrinking and growing. It frustrates me. The device goes "device is full" and apps keep crashing at random, even Messenger. I don't know what to do. What is this issue?

What is the device? It may be a device problem rather than an app one.
I assume you’re not using an SD card for storage?

Use your browser for facebook.

The android Facebook app is a bloated mess. It eats space and consumes battery life. Use the Facebook "Lite" app if you really need an app.

If your phone is on the brink of full storage and a variation of 500 MB causes problems, then you need to start uninstalling apps or deleting other big files. Or look into upgrading to a phone with more internal storage.

Go to settings -> storage and look at what is taking up your space. It should break it down in categories like apps, photos, music, games, files. Then go through and remove stuff. Google files would be a big help.
