Dang I see everybody is rooting I wanna root soooo bad but I'm afraid I may smuck something up! And yes I see everybody saying how easy it is and just follow the instructions just never been real big on following instructions correctly! LOL... I guess I'll sit back and read more on it, till I feel comfortable enough to give it a try...I'm such a lame:(

I'd say read until you feel comfortable. Then get everything you need to root together and open the page with the guide and just follow it step by step.If you run into problems just ask for help.If all else fails you can always run the RUU to return your phone to stock like the day you got it.Don't fear rooting.:D

I guess your right, as long as I can go back to the stock version if I mess up eases a little of the fear. When I get home tonight I think I'm a go for it!

I debated about it for months before just two weeks ago I finally took the leap... It's not TOO bad.... I did it the long way... Going back to 2.1 and then rooting and installing a rooted 2.2 ROM... Not sure how this new unrevoked program works..... I used the Sticky and there is a two part you tube video that you can follow along with....

Part 1

YouTube - How to Root the HTC EVO 4G with Froyo 2.2 Part I [Video Walkthrough]

Part 2

YouTube - How to Root the HTC EVO 4G with Froyo 2.2 Part II [Video Walkthrough]

I followed the sticky and watched these two video's twice and then watched the video pausing along the way while actually doing the root process.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I just did the new Unrevoked (not forever) today and it went without a hitch. Read the directions and just don't freak out during the times it's hanging for a minute doing its thing.

Many will recommend loading another ROM (make a backup image of yours first), but I don't know details of which is which to direct. I can just say that the rooting process alone wasn't painful.

Same here. I just did the Unrevoked and followed instructions. Just got done installing Baked Snack 1.7 ROM. Liking it so far.

You guys are awesome thanks for the advice and the links, I'll check back in and let you know how I did. I guess I'll skip the after work glass of wine till I finish the Root! LOL

Yeah good idea wine + hackery isn't a smart thing to do lol.
Good luck!

Psh jerzy is always talking about how he just had some beers. Haha.
I know igotsanevo4g will flame for this BUT if you're scared of the hard way you could always check out unrevoked...

Problem with rooting is loading all the different roms, they are all good in their own way. I'm running Calkulin's ROM right now and it's looking real good.

What! Unrevoked! Arrrrg! Haha ;)

I quit on that subject, people can do what they want, I just won't help the problems they encounter from it.

Besides unrevoked is more dangerous imo, because you don't know what the hell is happening to your phone. (i think they send evil spirits in there, who knows)
