The fingerprint sensor has to be the most useless/counterproductive feature of the S7

I think it registered the prints just fine. I noticed if I leave the phone for a bit and come back, the fingerprint unlocks it. But say if I am texting someone, lock the phone, they return message right away, it just asks me to swipe to unlock.

Did you truly lock your phone or just turn it off? Check under Lock Screen and Security - Secure Lock Settings and see what your Secured Lock Time is set to. For example, mine is set at 5 minutes, so if I turn off the phone (say after I am text someone), the phone actually doesn't Lock until after 5 minutes of not using it. So if I were to turn the screen back on, it just asks me to swipe to unlock. Also if you have Smart Lock set up for certain connections (i.e. bluetooth), then your phone will remain Unlocked while connected (thus giving you the Swipe to Unlock rather than requiring your fingerprint).

It works pretty well for me. I'd say about 85% of the time it works immediately. A slight annoyance at times but one I can live with.

Just a hint, I've realized you don't have to press the home button twice to unlock the phone. I just press the button and hold it down. The phone wakes up, reads my print, and unlocks. I also don't know if it's just mine but the recent Verizon update seems to have increased the accuracy of the reader on my phone.

Wow, I'm amazed at how many have issues with the fingerprint sensor -- it's actually one of my favorite features of my S7. I have very small hands & fingers, too and I would say my success rate is about 99%. Once in a while, it will say "no match", but I can almost always tell when its going to do that because I managed to position my finger poorly on the sensor. I would much prefer to use my fingerprint while in a public place rather than my PIN (call me paranoid, but with every store & business having security cameras these days & then nosy people, I don't want any of them catching me entering my PIN on my phone when I just want to comparison shop or reply to a message).

Ah this must be it, I have it set at 1min. So anything under a minute it'll just ask to swipe to unlock. I guess just something to get used too. The actual fingerprint functionality works great, just find it odd there is a grace period. I'll see if I can change the setting. Thanks!

I find that my fingerprint scanner works about 99% of the time. Certainly better than my iPhone 6S. It's very convenient on the apps that utilize it.

P.S. I get that Dan The Man, but if she's going through your phone behind your back, you gotta find another girl brotha lol.

Works great on my S7.

This is my first phone with a fingerprint reader. I actually used to always think it was silly and unnecessary. Now I use it almost 100% of the time to unlock my phone.

The fingerprint reader and Samsung Pay might be two of the features on my S7 that I am most pleasantly surprised with; features that I figured I would never use but now that I have them I use them constantly.

Used it on my S5, use it on my S7. Definitely prefer the S7 touch method over the S5 swipe method.
