A few days ago, iMore announced they are no longer going to be producing content:

This brings me to the question, what is the future like for AC? @Bla1ze if you could answer, it would be appreciated. If you don't know, I'll understand. But given that iMore is shutting down (something that I never really considered to happen any time soon), I think it's time for an honest discussion of what will happen here. Transparency is going to be critical here....

Our world is in a constant state of flux. Looks like AC will continue on, but even if it didn't, as long as there is an Android market and money to be made, somebody would purchase the rights or something else would take its place.

I was surprised recently to see CrackBerry Kevin had purchased and resurrected CrackBerry. 😊

Given I don't make site and forum shut decisions personally, the most transparent I can be on this matter is to say that at this time and for the known immediate future, there are no plans to shut Android Central down.

I'm sure the iMore closure came as a surprise to many, but AnandTech also recently shut down as well and they've existed longer than iMore and were an internet staple for tech news.

Not going to wax poetic with my personal thoughts on the matter, but the publishing landscape has been changing, a lot of popular sites have started to disappear for a wide array of reasons.

Thanks for this information. It's greatly appreciated!

Thanks! In all honesty, I just thought this was a good chance for the air to clear...especially after I read that article. One thought I had was, where does AC stand in terms of something like this.

I started off on Crackberry because I had a Blackberry . :) Then got an Android and switched to Android central. 😀 Imore was the last forum of those 3 . But I agree it is sad to see a site close down 🙁
I really enjoyed Crackberry and as you, I came here after getting an Android. Both sites had their own 'personalities'.

Android Central Forums really sent me down the right path as I was pretty lost on how to maneuver through the Android OS, particularly on Samsungs.

I'm sure AC has helped & inspired a zillion people, both in their fresh content & articles, & throughout the forums.
😃
Long may the site live on!

This! My last iPhone was the 4. My first Android phone was the LG Optimus G. AC was my main site when I was reading about Android before making the switch and the forums were a godsend.
