Greetings to all. I am not a forum poster, as a matter of fact, this is a first for me to post my opinion as opposed to seeking help on Android Central. I just want to share with ANYONE and EVERYONE that is considering selling, or trading your beloved Note 4, because you suffer from the dreaded, incurable "maybe this other Android phone is a little better than my Note 4 is" disease. I just let go of my precious Note 4 a few days ago, trading it away for another Android phone. (not necessary to divulge which Android at the moment, because I don't need to hear someone call me an ***** in my time of sorrow). Nothing like a little salt on an open wound, eh?? The moment I hit the Factory Reset, and handed the Note over to my counterpart, I sensed I had made a mistake, and alas, I feel I did. Now, I am not saying the Note 4 is the perfect phone, Lord knows I hate TW sometimes, and, I did have to reset the phone a number of times, because of lag,(which prompted the desire to change in the first place). Now, the new phone I have is cutting edge, released this spring, fast, great camera, good battery, really, one of the top Androids of 2015. But, many of you can relate when I say that there is just something about the Note 4, that can't be explained, but has to be experienced. Maybe it's just me, maybe it's because I have had an S3, S4, S5, Note 2, Note 3, and Note 4, but, with all the complaints (not that many I realize now), I had with the Note 4, the new phone in my hands PALES in comparison to it. (BTW, the S-Pen was hardly used when I had the Note 4, I purchased the phone for the other features, and used the pen sparingly)
I only want to post this, to hopefully prevent any of you out there, thinking of trading or selling your Note 4, from letting it go without THINKING REAL HARD before you do!!! (I even texted the other party the next day, to inquire as to whether he was happy with the Note. STUPID QUESTION on my part, I am sure I heard him chuckling under his breath) Even though the new phone is monetarily valued higher than the Note 4, and is newer, there is just no filling the empty space in my heart at the moment. I have already posted the new phone on Craigslist, and, hopefully, I can secure a Note 4 as nice as mine was, (without getting shot in a Speedway parking lot), fairly soon. Add the fact that the Note 5 does not have a replaceable battery and SD slot, I think the Note 4 is the phone to hang onto for a while. So, the moral of the story you ask......... DON"T DO IT!!! And pray that you get healed from the dreaded disease that plagues so many of us!!!!!

On the flip side, if anyone out there is in Ohio, and was considering trading your Note 4, for something else, hit me up, I have a REAL nice LG G4 I would consider trading you............................:)

Be well all!

Sorry to hear the new phone didn't work out for you. Hopefully we'll all be able to post "wecome back!" messages soon.

Since you have been in contact with the new owner of your OLD note 4, ask them if they would consider UPGRADING to your currently owned brand new(?) XXXX that is considered by some to be far superior to the OLD note 4...
I told my boss that he needed to upgrade his note 4 to the NEW note 5 that is considered by some to be far superior the the note 4. He didn't bite. He finally got the truth out of me that I wanted his note 4 as a future backup to mine.

Great post, and I agree. I am one of those serial "must have the latest and greatest" upgraders and have had more phones than I have toes and fingers to count them on. The Note 4 has by far been the best phone I've ever had. I was eager to hear about the Note 5 but when I too found out about the battery and SD slot, quickly lost interest.

I will definitely be thinking long and hard before I consider another device, I hope you come back to old pastures soon.

Maybe we need to do an intervention or exorcism or something. You could start drinking heavily!
Sarcasm aside, I agree. I used to unbox a new phone and use it to search the Internet for its replacement. Crazy 😜
I've had my Note 4 since they first came out and have it 98% the way I want but still tweak it. I also find thing it does that I never knew about.

I would trade my Note 4 in a second for a new Moto X Pure Edition. I really really miss the Moto software!!

Yeah, I agree, I miss the moto software. I am super frustrated by the lag and apparent lack of support for this phone.

I had taken the plunge, not on the phone you moved to, but to a Note 5, for about 6 days. While, for me, the Note 5 was a great handset and more capable than my Note 4, it wasn't US$850 more capable (I bought both phones outright, so I didn't have any service plan issues to get in the way of returning the Note 5 to Best Buy).

While I had the 5, I discovered the same "something" missing from the overall user experience vs. what I was used to in the Note 4. Maybe a part of it was how many of the Settings Menu choices had changed. Also, the 5, while a touch narrower, was also heavier, which, for me, was not a good thing.

I'm just glad that my situation worked out that I still had my Note 4 while flirting with the Note 5. Now, I'm back and definitely appreciative of the qualities I enjoy in the 4.

The Note 4 (Verizon) is the best phone I've owned. It does have slight lag in recent apps but I can live with that. It's good enough that I have no desire to look for anything newer. It does what I need it to do and does it well. Love the size, the screen, the camera and the removeable battery is a must for me. I'll stick with the Note 4 for the foreseeable future. As prices drop, I may get another for a backup.

OK, 3 weeks, and a good bit of searching, I was able to sell the LG G4 on Swappa, (in a matter of hours after posting), and, located a Note 4 seller, also on Swappa, that was actually local to me. After a few messages back and forth, and, a VERY long week, thanks to the USPS shipping my G4 from OH to CA, (even though the buyer was 1 hour away IN OH), then back to OH, my funds were released, and I got my hands on another pristine, Verizon Note 4, with all the factory trimmings. So, happy ending to a valuable lesson learned. At least for me, once you experience a Note, with that wonderful removable battery and SD Card, it is REALLY hard to be happy with anything else.........(at least for now) Am I cured of the disease of searching for a better phone??? Of course not, but, maybe next time, I will keep the Note 4, and purchase something "better" first, before I let it go. SIDE NOTE ABOUT THE G4- I really did not have any issues with the G4, except one HUGE issue............No matter what I did, (aside from rooting), I could not get the lag out of the keyboard. Tried SwiftKey, and multiple other keyboards, but, the hesitation once in a while, was driving me NUTS!!!! Overall, it seemed like a nice phone, and, if they could get the bugs worked out of the G4, and get it to run like the G2, (still one of my favorite phones), they would have something. I did a lot of reading, and, it appears that the keyboard lag is something that is pretty common with the G4. Too bad, it is a decent piece aside from that, but, not all of us are comfortable rooting a device, to fix something that shouldn't be there to begin with. Thanks for the support from some of you, and, thanks for the recommendations from some to listen to some good old Cinderella again. All's well that ends well!!! :)

Great story. Here is my cell phone lineage.

Flip phones for countless years.
2010 Droid X
2012 iPhone 4s
2013 iPhone 5
2014 iPhone 6
2015 iPhone 6S Plus and Note 4

The Droid X was nice, but littered with bugs that never got fixed. I rooted the snot out of it and had fun and frustration with it. Switched to iPhone for a few years and liked them. Got over the limited control in trade for smoothness and stability. Cut to a month ago, got a Note 4 for work. Was expecting the old Android feeling of 'sorta works', and while it's not as smooth as the 6S Plus, I love the phone! Screen is fantastic, it's light, takes killer pics, love the S-pen, like the control I have again with the OS. It's just a really nice phone. I don't bash wither ecosystem and both have great merits, but I really see why the Note 4 is so beloved. I am glad to be a part.

Rocko, I agree completely. I still have a 32 gig 5s that I switch to from time to time, especially if I am working where the Note 4 is too cumbersome to have strapped to my belt. Not a basher of iPhone either. They do work well, but too proprietary to be my daily driver. (Still don't get why you can't do simple things like move pics to different albums, etc.) Welcome to the Note family!!!!

Thanks. Biggest thing I like about the note 4 over the iPhone 6S Plus is ability to move files around-music, pics, etc. I love the hi-resolution playback-24/96, etc. for music. Screen is just fantastic.

Yep.That will always be the iPhone's downfall with me. I think the 4s, 5, and 5s are perfect size phones in an Otterbox for day to day use, but you can't beat the Note's screen real estate, and flexibility.

I used to be like 'the next phone is better' .. until I got the Note 4.
It will take a lot to get to a next generation phone... I stick with it for more than I anticipated

Thank you for your post!

Aha grass is greener on the other side, the sun comes into my garden during summer at 6.33am it's in my lawn from 7am until 6pm. But during that time my other lawn gets about 3 hours of sun.. So the grass is greener on the other side. Case dismissed juror.
