Awesome looking phone!

I was in my local BB today and they had one, though they wouldn't turn it on. I didn't ask if they would actually sell it only because I knew I would buy it if they said yes...

One of the BB salespeople didn't even know they had a real one or she was protecting the company line or...

Anyway, the video is cool and I love the fact that the media dock comes not only with a way to charge another battery, but includes the extra battery for the same price. Awesome!!!

The data connectivity problem seems to becoming more frequent. While toggling Airplane mode on then back off gets it reconnected my concern is it really didn't happen that much at first. But seems to be increasing in frequency. Since restarting the phone or toggling airplane mode solves the problem everytime it leads me to believe it's the phone and not necessarily the network :-(

Let the games begin... Sorry to hear about these problems starting. It seems that Samsung cant figure out how to make a working GPS. I hope they solve these for you guys. I had a Fascinate and know your pain all to well.

I think it has to do with how the OS holds onto the GPS data it downloads. Correct me if im wrong. On my Fascinate I had to do a daily battery pull to clear the data before I could even think about using the GPS. Sounds like they havent resolved this yet.

Only when on 4g. The thunderbolt can do 3g and 4g

What I can't understand is how my data was working fine and has slowly gotten to the point that I almost can't use it. Every time I pick up the phone now, I gotta toggle Airplane mode on then off again to get data back. I'm missing some very important emails because of it. Once more day, and then it goes back if it's still doing it.

My GPS has been working great. I used it a lot on a small family trip from NY to OH this weekend and used it all weekend in Ohio. It didn't let me down once, and I brought a backup nav in the even that it did so I was ready.

This data thing will crush this for me :-( and I've been loving this phone. BGR even just gave it a good review and said it's the 4G phone to beat.

I think part of the problem with GPS is that most phones use a dedicated gps daemon to take care of GPS related stuff. Samsung decided to not use gpsd and put the services in with the framework instead, which is probably causing their reliability issues as far as gps speed and accuracy go.

Nope, if you call Verizon they won't activate it yet.

I activated mine through My Verizon. Was super easy and went off without a hitch.

That's gotta be it then. Mine doesn't do very well with GPS indoors either.

But outdoors it is great.

I am hoping this will improve with an update, I don't want to have issues with it. Its got it all, but GPS is expected to work period.

That is great. Careful though. My BB guy said that the 14 day return policy is in effect on phones BB sells because of Verizon. I would just be double sure if I were you. But if so, that's great.

Sorry to have disappeared while there is such interest in the few phones which are out there. I've noticed data issues but I feel like it's improving.

Let me sum up the few random issues I got, ordered in severity: (Worst first)

-Calling out is perfect, can make tons, first call in works great. After the call in, all calls out and in are then silent till I reboot. This includes testing with #832

-3G sometimes is just non-existent. It says it's connected to 3G but browsers time out etc and all activity according to the arrows is up with no down... (This is getting better, I stream Pandora 8-10hrs a day so I know exactly when this happens too. 3 days ago 3g was no data, now it's 50/50 and improving)

-Losing total data, happened only 3-4 times. Odd pattern too. Start off in 4G then am on 3G then no data in all of about 15 seconds. Then it's back up in 60 seconds.

-Reception is weaker. My wife has a sad kin one (no data just voice) and it always has 1-2 more bars when right next to the Charge.

With BB you get 30 days to exchange, but only 14 days to cancel the service, at least that is what they told me, but never trust in what your told.

So I've been sitting on my Charge and couldn't get the SIM card activated. Finally, I decided to just go ahead and try giving Verizon a call yesterday, and guess what? They were more than happy to help me activate it. Took less than 5 minutes and worked without issue. They even asked if I was activating the SIM for a Thunderbolt or a Charge and didn't mention anything about not wanting to do it for the Charge yet. Maybe a good sign for those still waiting?
