The kinda-official LG G4 bootloop thread

I handed my mind and will keep my m9. Not enough of a upgrade to deal with the hassle.

Hi,
I'm new here, and am one of the unlucky few who has the bricking problem. Mine is a 509. I will be bringing my device to the service center in my country to get it fixed, and from what I read, the motherboard requires replacing. My questions are, around how long would the phone be with LG to get the problem fixed, and if any data will be wiped. My main concern is that my data will be wiped, for I only manually backup my phone once in a long while, and my WhatsApp chat logs (which are dear to me) are not backed up. Don't worry, I've learnt my lesson, but I haven't been able to backup anything because, I can't, obviously. Thanks in advance!

Your data will get wiped. Also, I think the expected turnaround is about two weeks though I think in reality it takes longer. And if you've been reading, I'm sure you've heard a few horror stories.

You should try the freezer trick. It's worked for many.

Oops.

Actually, I've already freezer-ed it once for around 15 minutes. Booted up to the lockscreen for split second before falling back to its old ways again

It will be wiped. Mine even came with Android Marshmallow installed as a fresh install with none of my information, apps, documents, photos, etc. in it.

okay so I've just gotten the phone out of the freezer, but the battery went flat and there was a sign with a battery and a small yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. Temperature too cold?

Add mine to the list. S/N 505. VZW. What pissed me off is my SD card went bad the other day. Got a warranty replacement for that, but am now wondering if the two are connected.

At least VZW acknowledged its a phone issue and didn't turn it in against my insurance. Booting up my old Galaxy S4. Glad I held onto it...

Not connected. I'm still using the 32 gig SD card LG gave me in the G4 bundle deal in my G5. No issues.

Mine was an 64GB card that I already used previously. I hope it stays not connected. New SD card coming "soon".

It seems it's a random issue and csn happen to any LG phone.
