The LG V10 is official! G4 owners, what do you think?

If I didn't own a G4, I'd get this... But the problem is that the screen resolution is the same, battery size is the same, camera is the same, processor is the same. The most important stuff for me is the same. I can't justify paying that kind of money for a device I already own. if they had put ... hmm... a 4,500 mah battery in it, then it would be worth it! But ... same EVERYTHING? I mean, don't get me wrong, it has A LOT of good NEW things, but nothing that merits the same device. Camera, battery life and processor (speed, power and temp) are the most important things. None of these have changed. If I didn't own a G4, I'd buy it ASAP! AWESOME looks, great specs... Top phone :D

I don't think LG thought of this as a G4 replacement. It's more of a spin-off device or something like that.

I mean, think about it. If everything about this phone was better than the G4, and you got one recently, wouldn't you feel a bit alienated?

Kind of how I feel. For me, it would require a newer and fast processor for it to be an upgrade over my G4 first and foremost. Bigger battery would be second.

Yes I would feel alienated and ticked off, lol.

It feels like a rugged Note to the G4's Galaxy in terms of market positioning. Nice, but the 2nd screen is a little too nerdy for my taste.

For me, its tough to get too excited about it...same battery and same processor. Looks cool though.

It would be a sideways move for my needs. I plan on using the G4 for at least another 6-12 months.

Great to see LG offering some amazing new devices!

Edit, the more I look at the specs I might be forced to switch. The built in 32bit DAP looks very nice.
For the secondary screen e-ink would have been interesting, but likely not practical from an engineering standpoint.
Damn LG! I was happy with my G4 until I looked closely at the specs.

Oh I know! I know it isn't aimed at G4 users. But hey! I'm a phone wh0r3... :) I love my devices! haha. I would have loved a reason to upgrade... :) I'm always looking to upgrade! haha.

I agree about the size. The G4 is as big as I want to go. If the flagships are going above that in size, I wish they would do a + version, and a smaller version. I really like 5.2" myself.

Totally...I love the G4 but it's a bit beyond my outer limit from a size perspective. I have no desire to upgrade and would have no reason not to keep this for years except if they came out with a smaller version. I'd dump this in a heartbeat.

The v10 is a glorified G4 but for those that don't want to spend the extra cash should stick to the G4. Yeah there's a few minor improvements here and there but thats about it.

I use phone cases on my devices anyways so the rugged look wouldn't have been a factor for me.

I like the V10, I was a HTC user for several years and enjoyed the solid build of them. I find the V10 similar and
with the new back material it won't be a slippery as the G4 (which I've used for a few months). I don't use a cover because it kills the aesthetics of a good looking phone AND fits better in my pocket. . I really like the G4 but the added weight is negligible on the V10. I would like the wider angle of the front facing camera, we were just on vacation and I can't tell you how often we had to squeeze in to get the selfie with me and my wife in the picture, even using a stick (and I'm 58).
I also believe the sound will be better due to improved placement of the speakers (another hold over for me from htc sound) but it may come down to the price point, I'd have to buy out my G4 and sell it on ebay.

I think it's an intriguing idea, but I'm reserving judgement until I can hold one in my hand. Not entirely sold on the second screen. It could just be another gimmicky feature with little real world use for me.

I love my G4, but a bigger screen would be nice. Like others, I wish it had more hardware upgrades.

It also has this, which I'm definitely interested in;

Antenna boosting tech:

What do you know, the LG V10 happens to be the first commercial device to utilize Qualcomm's TruSignal antenna boost. Qualcomm is never keen on detailing its technology before the press and consumers, so all we can tell you is that the tech has been designed to intelligently optimize signal strength for fewer dropped calls, faster data and better call coverage, no matter how the phone is held.

I like the look and added video functions. I also really like that it upsamples audio files. I think the second screen is better implemented on the Galaxy edge.

I would have been very excited up until about 2 weeks ago when my Pebble Time Steel arrived... all of a sudden, my battery life has extended itself massively recently, just because I don't turn the screen on as much, doing everything on my wrist.

eInk would have definitely been the way to go on the ticker screen, IMHO, with auto backlight for notifications / short messages, time, etc. I don't think it's much use as an app tray though. If you're going to use an app surely you'd just use it? or use on of the conventional methods of launching it? Seems a bit redundant to me.

Loving my G4 after two months of ownership so far, and going to be keeping it for another year at least... so it'll be interesting to see what the flagship direction will be next year.

First off I think it is just way too big. The G4 is really too big for me as it is.

Second, I think the extra screen would have been better on the bottom of the main one so that it could be used for the virtual control buttons instead of having auto-hiding buttons on the bottom of the main screen.

Oooo this one looks pretty cool. When is it supposed to come out?

I think I like it. The build and the added features. A little too tall though.
