Man, I really wanted this tablet. Just for more portability than my Note 10.1, but Samsung is High if they think I'm going to pay $400 for it. I know you'll say it's faster and has some better specs than the 10.1, but S pen or not, this tablet is WAY OVERPRICED! I can get another 10.1 16gb for just a little more at Costco. I think Samsung is making a big mistake on this one as far as the price. Plus no Cellular radios in them either, just Wi-Fi. Guess I'll have to wait awhile and see what else comes out or for a drop in price. I never really liked the look of the tablet, just looks like an Oversized GS lll or note 2. What's everyone's thoughts on the price?

Same here I never really liked the look either! I was hoping they would change the look before it was released. It looks too much like a phone rather than a tablet and I'm disappointed they removed the front facing speakers like the 10.1. Looks like I'm either just gonna have to get the 10.1 bc it doesn't seem a new one is coming anytime soon. But yeah they failed at price and design on this one in my opinion, not interested in the 8.0 version anymore!

I might pay $400 for 32gb as an impulse buy but no way on 16gb. I was really wanting 8.0 for portability as well but not at that price. I have an upgrade in May for cell. Really wanted s4 but may end up with note II if my mood is right. 16gb @$300 maybe even $350 I would be all over it, but $400 is just overpriced Apple territory.

Yeah, I agree with the Apple comment. I had an Ipad mini for about 10 days and returned it. The size was good, just hate Apple. I was really hoping the Price would be much better. 16gb is way overpriced. I'd want to get the 32gb also, Maybe at $400, but I hope Samsung learns from their mistake. It puts nothing for them to compete with in the 7" category. I may wait for the Next Nexus 7, but I'm going to miss the stylus. It's a shame, they had another buyer with me, I already have a Samsung GS lll and GN 10.1, but I think I'm going to wait and see what else comes out this summer.

I too am not a fan of the design. However, given the history of prices Samsung has attached to the initial release of its 7 and 8.9 inch tabs, the expectation that the 8" Note with 16 GB would be offered at $300 to $350 was unrealistic IMO. IIRC the GT 7.0 Plus w/16 GB released at $400 and it didn't have S-pen or multi-task capability. Just sayin'.

I actually am a big fan of the look. It's totally unconventional in design which I appreciate. I like that they are trying to be different. It took me a while, but eventually I came around to it. My biggest problem is the lack of front facing speakers. I think I will struggle to ever buy anything without front facing speakers in the future. I love them so much on my Note 10.1 that it became the main reason that I want to consider the HTC One. If the S4 had front facing speakers, i'd be sold on that. It just makes too much sense and it can look really good to have them on the front. I don't see why you wouldn't incorporate that.

I bought mine this morning at a Staples. I had to tell them 5 times it was a tablet, because they kept trying to sell me the note2. They didnt have a display, and only the uber nerd on staff new they were hiding in the stock room. $400. ouch. But I wanted it sight unseen, and I am not disappointed. I do wish I had a cover/stand, and full multi window control. Besides having the phone portion like they have every where but the states......but Iike it very much, and am not disapointed after 10 hours of ownership. PS: why is there no 8.0 forum?

There is a Galaxy note 8" forum, but for some reason it's under Samsung phone section here.
Btw, what do you mean by "full multi Window control". Is it different than the 10.1 as far as how the multi Window works?

Being able to add any app you want into multi window, for some reason I cant even add the calculator......but thanks for the heads up on the forum!

I was really hankering for it, but, no, not at $400. And then, I would want to buy a book cover for it like on my Note 10.1 (and my flip cover on my Note 2) - another 50 bucks!

Yeah Barskin, it was a big letdown seeing the price. I saw the price on the bookcovers also. Isn't that the same price as for the 10.1? That's a joke, since the 8" is smaller. I did see some cases on Amazon though, definitely cheaper. I know you probably like the bookcover though.
Hoping the price goes down in a few months. Then maybe I'll consider it.

Picked one up this morning. So far so good. Watched a couple of movies listened to some music. Took lots of notes at a couple of meetings. Took a video. Battery still going strong after about 10 hours of use.

Even though I paid the $400, which is not something im proud of, why wait 2-3months for $50? I will wash my sins away at the next AA meeting.......androids anonymous

Well, for one thing, I want to see if any problems with the Device. Two, I learned my lesson from getting my GS lll phone and the Galaxy Note 10.1, not to get a device when it first comes out, because the accessories for them take awhile to get out. And finally, to see what else comes out in the next few months. I would rather have the S Pen and all I can do with it, I love my GN 10.1, but if you look at all the websites that listed it when it finally came out, the biggest response from most people was the Price. Which I totally agree. I didn't mind paying the higher price for my 10.1, because of the extra real estate you get with it and I use it for drawing. The 8" is smaller and I want it more for portability and probably will use it more for taking notes. I have to stop by Best Buy though when I have time and actually get a hands on feel of it, before I make a decision whether the price is justified or not. Haven't had time to do that yet.
Also, would like to see if another color comes out and if they do a 32gb version of it.

I wish I waited on the palm pre too. But I loved webos, and my ole touchpad for that matter. The s pen works faster than my 10.1 and note2. Great response. Definitely need a pouch or cover. Im afraid ill scratch it! I have the factory plastic on it though for the time being. I have emailed bodygaurdz to see if they are coming out with the carbon fiber armor in black for this model. That will fix the white and offer protection.

The price is absolutely ridiculous.. I was waiting til it came out so I can buy one, but when I saw the price.. I just went with the 10.1..

Well, I bought one a couple weeks ago. I was really kind of disappointed with some of the things it lacked on it, but got one anyways. My biggest problem with it was the Price, like most people, and now after having it the only other thing that really irks me is the amount of Internal storage left after I put apps and games on it. I'm down under 8gb of internal storage. There are some workarounds for the things that I was disappointed with, so not a big deal. I had the chance to return it yesterday and decided to keep it.
I love my 10.1 more, just because I can do more with it, but the size of the 8" and because I'm not going to drag around my 10.1 to appointments, is the main reason I'm keeping it. I really wish they came out with a 32gb version in the U.S. It's a nice device though. It boots up and closes so much faster than my 10.1.

To me , the Note 10.1 is the best tablet to have, and if I could combine it with a Galaxy Note 2, that would be the BEST 1-2 PUNCH since Jordan and Pippen.... although when I finally save the dough for a a note 2 I will most likely just be getting a Note 3 because they should be out by then lol. A Note 10.1 combined with a Galaxy Note 2 is the excalibur sword and shield of Camelot IMHO

I agree the note 2 and the 10.1 would be the best combo together. Especially since the note 2 has the phone/tablet capabilities. The note 8 only has wifi, so have to tether to my phone which requires having two devices with me. I've been checking into getting the note 2, but too expensive. I have to pay for the note 8 first. I may wait like you for the note 3.

I own the Note 2, and 10.1, and I agree they are the ultimate companion devices. With S-sync you can take notes on the phone while on the go, and they automatically sync with the 10.1, when I'm back on wifi. The original Note did not do this, but Samsung has since improved this functionality.

I too wanted the Note 8, but since the 10.1 and Note 2, are vastly different, yet similar, they make the perfect pair in my opinion.
