The Next Google Nexus Device

Instead of what we wish for, does anyone have any actual info about the next Nexus? More than what we already know/are speculating about? I keep seeing this thread getting bumps but no actual legit information, just wild and ridiculous speculation/demands.

I really wish Google would choose someone besides Sammy for the next nexus, but they don't learn too fast I guess. I actually like think the idea of each major manufacturer having a nexus so the choice is in hardware and nothing else, but I guess that won't happen.

Not sure which way you mean when you say odds are out, but it probably wont be Moto because google needs to show that purchasing Moto will not slight G's relationship with other OEMs.

Honestly, I would love if it had the same form factor as the current Galaxy Nexus. Just upgraded internals.

This.

+Quad Core (I wouldn't even be mad it if was a Tegra 3)
+Higher PPI Display
+Higher Capacity Battery
+Inductive Charging (in addition to the POGO connector)

And the much improved 3G/4G/WiFi/GPS radios of the S3.

Yeah the next nexus should be just nexus, no other branding.

No, The New Nexus from Samsung brought to you by Google

I like where you were going. Here's what I was thinking

Manufacturer: HTC
Screen: AMOLED (LCD's are battery hogs) *No pentile display
Screen Size:4.5" no physical buttons
Processor: S4 or newer Snapdragon processor.
Battery: 1850mah + NFC
Software: Android 4.1+
Radios: GSM/CMDA a la the Rezound
Camera: VGA Front and 8MP rear cameras *with front and rear LED flash

$450 direct from Google

You make a good point with the amoled screen that I would have to agree with. Furthermore the gsm/cdma idea would be great.*Cheers*

I can almost guarantee that after this Apple lawsuit fiasco, Google is going to want to stay far away from Samsung.

You're predicting that Samsung is going to lose?

I almost don't care who makes it, other than that I hope it won't have Samsung radios. Even if Sammy makes the next Nexus again I hope they either learn from or shop with Moto or HTC for its radios. Oh, and improve their overall build quality as well.

Come to think of it..the only things I'd like to see Sammy do is be responsible for picking out the rest of the internals. Display tech seems to be kind of a wash nowadays but I surely hope the next round of AMOLEDs won't suffer from burn-in and improve on their rendition of whites. As good as Sammys screens are, I am still partial to HTCs LCD tech atm.

I'm saying that Samsung has had pretty bad press, not to mention they openly admitted they attempted to copy the look and feel of the iPhone with the original Galaxy S and TouchWiz. Honestly, if I were Google, I'd jump that sinking ship fast.

..is it HTC's tech though? Or are they just sourcing from guys like Samsung, Sharp, and LG?

CPU: Quad Core, i dont care how fast just make it quad core
4G LTE
GPU: one on par or better than the new iPad
RAM: 2GB
Screen: Make an insane high resolution screen, like higher than 720p (u know apple's iPhone 5 will have this) Same size screen as current Nexus.
8MP Camera HD Plus video capture (1080p or greater) flash, auto focus
Design: keep the same design.

HTC or MOTO
After this trial, Samsung might be doing a major overhaul.
With the last 2 documents that was produced about Samsung copying?
Sounds like the nail is in the coffin and to add to that, the news that Samsung could possibly using child labor?
Yeah...Samsung could go down.

The Nexus Initiative

Your wish has been granted...unless Google contracts Sammy to make 5 devices

I'm sure most of you have already read said article, but that news was the most exciting mobile announcement plan I've heard this year. I'm sure Google doesn't plan to launch 5 smartphones, but the thought of multiple hardware options with a guaranteed stock experience (and hopefully no major US carriers) this Fall has me giddy. Bitter GS III taste promptly replaced by Jellybean.

This is an intriguing article.
Imagine multiple manufacturers dropping each of their own versions of the Nexus.

I'm going to predict Motorola. Since Google just bought them, it would make sense that they might be working on the next Nexus phone together. I wouldn't mind it. Maybe something thin like the RAZR, but with Nexus qualities.

I don't really have a whole list of specs I really want to see. I trust they'll pack the lastest specs like a dual-core CPU (Maybe Quad, but not necessary), 1GB RAM or more, etc.

But what I really want to see is more internal storage. If they aren't going to put a SD card slot in like the Galaxy Nexus... then PLEASE, give us 32GB and 64GB storage options! 16GB of internal storage with no SD card slot is so 2010! That's all I really care about.

Only Samsung has enough scale to get the best deal on components, IMO.

Whoever makes the next Nexus phone is still going to have to source components from others- screen by LG or Sharp, processor by Qualcomm, camera by Sony, etc.
