?? The Official Anticipation Thread For The EVO 3D? ??

I'm really liking my EVO, and I put a bit of expense and creative energy into having it mounted/docked everywhere possible. I've got a Siedio car cradle adapted to my motorcycle, an HTC car kit, multiple HTC USB/HDMI desktop cradles at work, home PC, TV set, etc., DIY tripod mounts for photography and even a mount to a microphone arm for watching video or reading ebooks while laying down.

So I think I should wait until I can obtain the stuff necessary to replace these solutions before jumping on the new EVO 3D. But alas, new HTC stuff on Sprint has been irresistible to me; I bought the HTC Hero on day 1 and then the HTC EVO on day 1, HTC phones for all family members... I know how those Apple lovers feel. So, even though my EVO 4G is doing everything I could ask, I may not be able to resist the EVO 3D.

I can't wait to pick this up and dump my Touch Pro 2, I've been off contract since November and decided to just hold off. Glad I did, but now the wait is killing me!

Just like you guys, I am waiting for the phone. I know it gonna take sometime to hit Asian market bu I guess I have all the time to wait :)

Moreover, I felt it might happen end of Q3 for me which is a good time to change from Blackberry to Evo

The specs definitely attracts me and I just need a darn phone with more apps! (Forget about iphone ;) )

Google I/O

I had decided to get the EVO before going to Google I/O last year and was blown away by them giving everyone an EVO 3 weeks before the release!!! I am hopeful that the same thing happens this year when I go to San Francisco May 10th and 11th. If the EVO 3D is not the giveaway I will also be in the front of the line to buy this phone.

The coolest part about them giving all the Evos away so early where all the impromptu unboxing and reviews popping up all over the place. It was one exciting night! So yes, if they do it again....that would be awesome.

In response to the guy saying those who dislike the 3d aspect of the phone are silly, I disagree.

I would also prefer a non-3d version. Why am I going to pay for and carry around 2 5MP cameras that I RarELY use? I would much rather have a fine tuned, higher quality 8MP shooter. Lets face it-the Evo 3d will not be a sufficient point and shoot replacement, but it couod be if they spent the development money on that instead of two cameras and 3d gimmickry.

I am hopeful that between the efficiencies of gingerbread and the dual core processor as well as better engineering, HTC will be able to give us 50% longer battery life than the Evo 4G. This isn't that farfetched -- Motorola got 40% more runtime out of the Droid X than HTC could muster with the Evo, and both have 1500mah batteries. If they can't, then I will look for a phone that can.

50% is my line in the sand.

I'm dropping my super reliable Hero for this. Hero you will be missed but Evo3D I want to use you and actually be able to play Angry Birds on my phone!! :'(

Marketing sometimes is a really bad thing, it tends to confuse the consumer by just throwing out numbers at people, and people that don't do their own research make uninformed decisions. Yes they are "only" 5 MP cameras, but the MP count isn't the only thing that's important when it comes to making a good camera, it's many other things like the type of lens is being used and on and on. The iPhone 4 camera is only 5 MP, but it takes better pics than the 8 MP in the Evo. The MP is just a measure of how high a resolution shot you can take.....5 MP far exceeds anything any TV or Computer monitor can display. The only time these insane resolutions are important is if you want to print very high quality prints on a very high quality printer using very high quality paper.....and...if you spend the money on all of that, you are probably going to buy a REAL camera.

It doesn't matter if it is 5 MP or 8 MP, the cameras are still very small and are therefore not able to capture as much light as the bigger lens on a point and shoot camera can. They also have no decent optical zoom, again, due to the lack of space and the proper hardware.

So, don't base your decision of buying this phone on whether there is a 8 mp camera in there or not....it's just not relevant.

And yes, there is supposed to be increased battery life, we'll see how good it really is. My friend went from an Epic to an Atrix, and he's extremely happy with the battery life of the Atrix. Granted, it has an even bigger battery than what the Evo 3d will get, but it too, is a dual core cpu. The Evo 3d's cpu has the advantage of being asynchronous which should help with battery life.

You will have a lot of pigs to kill and birds to free between Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio....enjoy! :)

The GS2 has a big advantage over the EVO 3D

The only thing the Galaxy S2 brings to the table is the Super Amoled Plus display and maybe the processor, maybe because there are rumors that there will be two different version of the phone for different markets, one that has the Tegra 2, the other one that has the Exynos from Samsung.

If it's the Tegra 2, well, that's what we've seen in the Atrix already, good CPU/GPU but without any benchmarks of the new dual Snapdragon to compare it too (in final hard and software), the jury is still out which one is better.

As far as the display goes, yes, Super Amoled plus is great, but it's a lower resolution, a slightly smaller screen, and it can't do 3d.

I am sticking to the Evo 3d. I had interest in the Galaxy S2 until they officially announced the Evo 3d.

all correct BUT you are are leaving out 2 HUGE aspect of the phone that are very important in my book (cuz i owned a pre for a long time)... The Galaxy S 2 is wayyyyy lighter and wayy thinner than the EVO 3D. EVO 3D is about 170 g and the GS2 is just under 120. that is huuuuge. its also about 1/3 thinner. i am seriously considering the GS2 over the EVO because of this. i have held the Thunderbold, and mannn is that thing frickin bolky and heavy (it has similar size and weight). i dont want a phone to feel like its pulling my pants down

I so wanted to Pre3 until I saw this. I dont really care about 3D but I figure if I have to pay for 4G anyways on Sprint I may as well get 4G!

I don't know why people seem to think that the 3d part is something that's present on the phone during daily activities like making phone calls, texting, email, browsing....it's not. It's only there for you to shoot pics and videos in 3d and watch movies from blockbuster and youtube 3d. It's just an additional capability that currently no other phone on the market besides the Thrill offers.

If the UI was in 3d and it was on constantly and you couldn't turn it off, I would never buy this phone.
thank you... these people don't stop saying this about the phone. such ignorant comments. "who needs 3D, I DON'T!!"... It's like do u also need a phone with a massive screen and that's more powerful than the laptop u had a few years ago? no, you don't, it's just cool.

Never thought to replace my evo, but since this one has 3d and higher resolution, im jumping on the 3d wagon :)

Wow, there's a crazy number of Pre users moving to this phone. Strangely, I am also one of them looking at moving to this phone. Is the 3D really only going to be used on the camera, though? Seems a bit strange that there isn't some type of mode for the sense UI that would kick in to 3D when holding the phone in landscape mode. What about games?

i am one as well. i like webos a lot but Android has just leapfrogged it by 10 miles in the sense of apps hardware function ( i just want a phone that runs google maps realllly well)... when it comes to a 3D interface; i think there will b 3D UI content to come. there are quite a few third party UIs out there for android. i am sure sooomeone will make one since there are a few 3D android phones coming out and i bet there will b more to come

I'm a pre user looking at getting this phone as soon as it comes out. I no another pre user who also wants to get this phone when it comes out. I think the fun of webos is spoiled by no apps and no good hardware. I want a super phone and this is it.

Ditto.
Launch day Pre owner who is 90% sure he's going to Evo 3D.
HP really screwed this pooch. Original Pre owners get the shaft on Web OS 2.0 and no new hardware form for Pre 3.
And Web OS apps are sorely lacking.
HP needs to read these forums to see how many original hard-core Pre customers they're losing.
