The official "I have my EVO 4G" thread...

Got one for my wife for her birthday on 6/4, sat outside from 4am till open

I was so impressed with this device that I went and got one myself on saturday and I was a loyal Blackberry user...Eff BB and all its problems, Android here I am

Got mine from Wirefly (169 - 20(BT) - 50(BCB) = around 109 with TAX) on Saturday, June 5th - enjoying it so far (apart from the low in coming calls quality)

I too had the Pre and switched on EVO opening day. I haven't put it down all weekend and love this thing. Still learning . . .

Pre Launch Day convert as well. EVO is blazing fast. HUGE screen. Love the quality fit and feel of it. I keep wanting to swipe things away, emails, apps, etc.

Still learning Android. I miss my golf game on the Pre, cant' find a good equivalent here, then again, I'm not sure where to look.

My wife and I both ditched AT&T and got the EVO.

She is not a tech person but I had a hard time having her leave it alone. She just couldn't stop fiddling with it and finding out new stuff she could do.
Myself being a tech guy I've been waiting for it and had it on pre order.

I can honestly say that it was a long time since I was this impressed by a portable device, it is a joy to use and I can't wait to see what Froyo will be like considering how fast it already is on 2.1

Tried doubletwist and pushed some dvd rips down and they play like no tomorrow :)

Advanced task killer is a battery saver and should be default in android imo, but it is still a juvenile os and lots of room for improvement (which is great)

Should also mention that the Sprint 3g coverage where I live is infinitely better (it seems) than AT&T although their coverage maps look almost identical.....

everyone seems to like advanced task killer, but i've read that android gets no use from that type of app.

It's a mixed bag really. Android does an ok job of closing apps that aren't in use, such as when more RAM is needed or the app has done it job. This requires that programmers code smarter though, and some of them haven't. ATK can kill an app faster than the Android system will, but you run the risk of system instability when you do so. Kill the wrong thing and you will need a reboot.

i develop for the pre, and still love the pre. picked up the evo to test out for the 30-day trial, and might try to scratch together and app and see how it goes. evo is a cool piece of machinery - looking forward to the next few weeks at least!

Got mine on launch day at Nebraska Furniture Mart for $189 baby! Love the phone. Still palying with it. Can't seem to put it down!!

Got mine on launch day. Got to the sprint store in Clearwater FL around 6:30am and was 5th in line. Got out in about 45 minutes. Loving the phone so far. Had the infinite booting loop because of my numeric password with setting up my Outlook, but other than that great.

what numeric password are you talking about? I set up my exchange, but no numeric password was required...just my normal email password

can you please explain further? thanks

I'm in love with another EVO!!! rofl This phone is a beast (in a good way of course). Stayed up til 2:00 a.m est admiring the EVO and all its glory.

just got mine and activated it today.. i have to say so far.. its above my expectations...

Only thing i have said "damn.. wish i had that" about was a trackpad or ball for correcting typing mistakes a little easier..

But.. so far... and coming from my MyTouch 3G... all i can say is WOW!!

Oh.. and i dont care for the fact that you have to hit the power button to turn the phone on and out of lock mode... but i can get over it.

Hi..New to the Evo, new to smartphones, and new to Android Central. Thanks to all posters who helped me get up to speed as I lurked at length over the past couple of weeks!

I was at the local Best Buy launch morning.

After a long weekend of "bonding," I am dazzled, perplexed, delighted, mystified, thrilled, and disappointed. Comments and questions to follow.

I was kicking myself friday afternoon, since I went to sleep after work instead of going to the sprint store in the AM (I work nights). They got like 70 and had been sold out since 10.30. Best buy had nothing but pre-orders left and radio shack was sold out as well.

Tried to order online (sprint) that night and the website was being pissy and wouldn't let me.

Woke up ~noon Saturday, called around and no one had any, but they could put me on the list. I tried sprint's website again, and everything worked. Sweet! I'll get it like Wednesday, no big deal.

I got woken up Monday at 12.30 to the ups guy with my phone :) Now just to figure it all out since it's my first Android phone (Samsung Instinct was my last phone).

I received mine today via UPS..ordered from Sprint's website last Saturday..the damn data provisioning is pissing me off because it's not working! Besides that, I love my Evo!
