The Official: I have my Gear S thread! Reviews, etc.

$299 off contract. Sim card is already in. $324 out the door with taxes. I also recommend going to the stores that had them displayed or high traffic stores. That's what I did.

So am I to assume that you HAVE to have a mobile plan with this? Thought I read somewhere that you don't have to opt-in for this. Seems like a let-down for those of us that don't really need to leave their phone at home...

So at&t is selling it off contract?

Yes no way I was paying $199 for a two year contract. No mention of next. Also he said insurance replacement would only be $50. Pic on my wrist. Love that it covers my whole wrist. The strap feels pretty cheap. But everything else looks premium

You don't have to have a mobile plan with this. I bought it outright and can cancel my $10 a month at anytime if I don't feel the need for it.

If you'll use it paired to your phone all the time, then it functions no different than the previous Gears.

Hmm...so essentially, A) wait for VZW to stop dragging their feet, buy for (hopefully) $299 from them with the $10 extra for 1 month, cancel after a month and I'm golden or B) check my local BBY tomorrow and see if Samsung is selling it outright without any contractual obligations whatsoever. Good deal! The $299 puts this right back in my wheelhouse. I just sold my Moto 360 about 2 weeks ago and got my monies back in anticipation for this beaut!

So my initial thought is Gear makes Wear a joke. Even Toq had some better functionality better than Wear. But Gear is where I would like to see Wear at.

Can someone please test the call out/receive feature with a friend? Just to make sure, I wanna know the sound quality, what shows up on the recipient's end, and what shows up on the watch when receiving a call. Are there too many swipes/steps for calling out or receiving calls?

Wish I could but at work for the moment

Does your shirt fit over it? I wear my watches down a bit lower.

Ha, ok. I am thrilled for you and others with this new toy.

OK to answer some questions

When you leave the BT distance the phone will notify you BT is no longer connected and will turn on data mode.

I made a call to mom and worked flawlessly. Speaker is pretty good for this watch heard her fine and her me.

I'm confused though on incoming which I need to figure out because if ATT is using the same number on both sims do I need to set up call forwarding? That I have yet to find out.

I love the dock charger but be careful those snaps seem breakable. I snap the bottom on first before the top. Seems legit

On home screen swipe down for volume and brightness options.

I'm not sure if I found a bug when reconnecting back to BT on the phone cause my LTE signal never showed back up till I did a reset. That's something I'll have to investigate more.

Just got mine in Linden NJ. Easy. $199 with 2 year contract. $10 a month and I paid the 6 bucks for insurance since I have busted every watch I have ever owned.

All the hard core folks who've been on this forum since launch, I hope you get yours soon. I CAN tell you it was worth the wait...I'm loving mine so far, but have not had a lot of time to play with much. A friend of mine said that my test text message came in as my main number. (When I was out of range) Have not testing any call features though... Also did try and download Pandora with no luck, but it comes with Milk Music which will do the job!!

So far loving it.Gear s.jpg

Here's the deal and I got this directly from Tech support.

When you add a data line for the Gear S you have to get a number associated for that Sim Card. However that number is associated to the linked phone device number so that it works when not connected. However when you're away from that device and make calls or text the number associated with the Gear S will be displayed and not your device number. It's only link to your device number to make the phone calls. I was confused because I thought the same number would show up but it doesn't work like that. So when you forward phone calls or text from your device you have to add your Gear S number in. Make sure to add country code as well.

Hope this doesn't sound confusing

I am really happy for you and others. Can you check later if you can download Opera the web browsing app? Also, did you buy this at AT&T store? For some reason, I thought you are a TMobile subscriber.
