The Official "I Pre-Ordered My Evo 3D" thread!

From what I have seen on these forums there are many a heavy heart abandoning the WebOs interface (I too am one). I can't believe with an OS as powerful as WebOs there were no updates and no new hardware releases.

I can't wait to get my Evo 3D and experience the craze that is Android...I have been playing with my wife's EVO for the past week and I am really excited for the 3D.

May the Pre rest in peace(in my case pieces) HAHA!

I also am leaving the world of WebOS with a bit of a heavy heart but Im very excited for a better phone, that I hope performs to my expectations.

Don't have a heavy heart for parts of WebOS will appear in a similar form to Android. They hired one of the main guys behind WebOS, Matias Duarte. I am looking forward to it.

I pre-ordered back around April 15th, got my call to pick up the phone Friday, If I paid using CC, I don't have to wait, it be ready at 8am. Soooooooo, out came the CC and I just stroll up at 8am while everyone waits...

Had to go through chat, but I managed to get my order in! She even tossed in free overnight! Can't wait :)

I ordered mine online then tried to call and get the overnight shipping, they said they couldn't do it. Kudos to you for getting it. **Jealous**

As it has been posted a million times here and on other forums, Sprint usually ships their phones overnight. Every phone I've ever ordered from Sprint has come the next day. No need to "upgrade" since there is nothing higher you can upgrade to. They will always tell you 2-5 business days to cover their butts in case something goes wrong and it arrives 2nd day.

Received an e-mail from Sprint around 5:30 AM here in Cali and ordered from website.

Pretty smooth.

But, what is up with the high tax?

Is there a special cell phone levy now? No wonder some many folks are leaving California.

I just pre ordered 2!! One for me and one for my wife $263 each including tax. We are both former Pre- owners will miss our Pres but HP needs to come out with a more advanced phone to compete.

What are all of you Pre owners doing with your Pre? I too have a Pre and am trying to sell it. Listed it on CL for $50. I know sprint's buy back option is $25 (at least it was when I checked a few weeks ago). Should I sell it for whatever I can get to minimize the cost of the E3D? Or should I just hold onto it. It really is a piece of junk and I can't ever see myself wanting to fire it back up for use. So, what is everyone else doing?

just did the preorder online this morning. a moment ago i saw my order needed validation. then the friendly sprint person hit me up for a chat. gave them my pin and off i went. he also mentioned 2-5 days for processing and shipping. whatever people. just give me my phones:) hopefully it is overnight. that would be awesome since i used my home address instead of my work. i'm back to work on thurs and friday. feeling impatient like some are here. i bought three of these htc's. upgrading from two original instincts and an exclaim. major upgrade here.

Wirefly for the Win, no Taxes here. And I leave webOS with no heavy heart, that phone was a POS as much potential as the OS had, Palm and now HP takes it's customers for fools...the Pre 3? Really? same failed design, same failed name? Good riddance. I'm going all in with Android.

keeping mine as a backup phone.

I loved the design. I still do. I will favor the physical keyboard 95% of the time. I'd almost get a Pre3 if it was available today because it does synergy so well (gmail/gmail apps/exchange/imap all well in one client). It did need an option for onscreen though for when you needed a quick reply.

But alas, can't wait forever, and HP hasn't brought that push of devs for app support I had hoped they would (or rather, they basically did a reboot, and I'm not waiting around again, maybe next time).

Yeah, there is supposed to be some nice improvements but will be seen on other HP devices first before the Pre.

I was definitely upset with the info that they released for the Pre 3. I enjoy a physical keybord but the vertical slider was upsetting to me.

What makes it even worse is that HP has not released any information on release date or carriers.

Webos will be missed but I'll get over it...

what continues to annoy me is their arrogance. Why not enable the onscreen KB? Every other os does that...

I am going to try and sell them on Craiglist if possible or let my kids have them to replace their Pixis

I just signed up with sprint($125 service credit for switching) and have a temporary evo 4G. My local sprint store put me on a reserve list so I will be picking one up on either. Friday or Saturday after it comes out.

Reviews are looking good on the 3D. Personally I would have liked a gs2, but with stock android. But then I wouldn't have been able to get the service credit promotion as that ends the day before the 3D comes out.

If I was still on tmo I would have got the sensation. Which is very similar to the 3D.

Anyone know if the 3D can/will be rooted? I've had a nexus one with cyanogen and i miss cyanogen lol

I ordered the 3D this morning and can't wait. I'm a Pre refugee and, although webos is great, the lack of (decent) hardware is maddening. I'm on my second Pre, and it won't charge anymore. I have friends with the Evo 4G who love the build quality, and can't wait to have a phone that won't die, nor need constant tweaking.

Very excited to own the 3D, hope it arrives soon. Android looks amazing.

I was able to order my EVO 3D online with Sprint last night at about 11:30pm central time. I just checked the status of my order and got a message that it was on back order. Whats up with that?
