My rooted and rom'd Incredible is keeping me busy till the Thunderbold REALLY comes out. Maybe @ MWC Verizon will finally speak up about whats going on. As soon as i can pre-order it tho Verizon i will.

Does VZW normally do pre-orders? I don't remember seeing them.

What astonishes me is that if it's true the TBolt was delayed because of the Mobile Hotspot feature, or any Software issue for that matter, that it has taken them this close to launch to delay it's release. If there is some sort of lingering software issue, clearly they have known about it for a while. Why bother giving companies like Best Buy the date internally? Makes no sense.

If Skype isn't ready then that's on Skype. If something is not working properly but all the software is "complete" that's on Verizon or their vendor's QA team. Maybe they should redeploy the idiot at @VerizonWireless to a job that has value, like testing their handsets.

I think VZW was planning on 2/14 for their stores too. Dummy phones with 2/14 as the date? Signage and those same dummy phones showing up this week?

They just seemed to have low confidence on the release.

I think a lot of this revolves around the *phone. Apparently you can't even have one delivered till after the 18th so they have a one-week delay on new orders already. IMO Verizon is going to push back the Bolt to give people ample time to buy an *phone.

What Guntherm said, I've pretty much had it with all this rumor mill crap and forum talk. This site said that, that guy said this, my dog took a dump and the crap was shaped as numbers 1 and 4, etc. etc... I pre-ordered as well and yea, I'd like the phone now if possible... but christ it's not that serious fellas. Facts are facts, VZ said ZIPPY! about an official release date. All anyone is doing with their 'just throwing stuff out there comments' is simply feeding more medicine to these Thunderbolt forum addicts.

I expect it no later than first week in March, if the thing was coming out on the 14th and it's already the 9th and there is STILL no official release date... sorry, it's prob not coming on the 14th, just sayn'

Relax people.

You know Verizon worked so hard to build up an Android phone Customer base in-spite of the *phone, and now they are going Destroy all of it just because of that crappy a$$ Icrap. Kind of makes you a little sick. :(

I don't think Verizon is going to destroy it. Sure, the iPhone on Verizon is going to change the landscape of Smartphone owners on their network, but it's surely not going to kill Android off by any means. The ones who switch to the iPhone are mostly going to be average consumers, who quite frankly, mostly never understood Android anyway. Many of them used the platform as a holdover until the iPhone or because it was the next big thing.

With that being said, Android still has and will continue to have a huge market. Android has been doing just fine overseas in other markets where the iPhone is sold unlocked and readily available on any carrier, so it will do just fine here.

The *phone aside, Verizon still has a fair amount of interest in Android... especially since their first LTE phones are going to be Android-based. That aside, I read somewhere (most like here on AC) that issues w/ the Skype Mobile app is holding the 'Bolt's launch.

Sorry if I am repeating what someone else has already posted: Verizon likes things to be near perfect before they release an item to the public. Be it a software update or new device. I think they learned from jumping the gun on the first BB Storm, which was a flop for the first few months, and are taking their time to work out any flaws/bugs in the Thunderbolt before putting it on store shelves.

On a side note, I really wish they would have come up with a different name. "Thunderbolt" is just too similar to the original BB Storm's code names ("Lightning" was one, if I recall correctly). "Incredible HD" or "Droid Incredible 4G" would be more fitting names. Although, I have seen the leaked images of the HTC phone that has a very similar back cover design to the current Incredible, and I think that device will be the DInc's successor.

Anyway, S-AMOLED display aside, I'm really getting tired of the Fascinate and really want to get back on the HTC wagon soon!

Hopefully they announce the obvious.
"Today is Valentine's Day, you should all be having sex and not running around like ******s, worrying about a telephone"

They aren't going to destroy it, but it's plainly obvious that VZW has found who they believe to be the prettier girl at the party and they will give her the attention first.

I was going to maybe switch to this phone as my 30 day period is up on the 18th (just switched to Verizon) but I guess I'll just have to live with my rooted Fascinate for a year. Oh well. I didn't see a huge difference anyway, slightly bigger screen, little better camera and more memory. But losing the Amoled display would suck which was kinda my decision point, if I got to look at them both side by side and the display was ok, I might have still done it. Oh well.

I remember back over a year ago when I was waiting for the Omnia 2 winmo phone to be released. There was delay after delay during which Verizon was pushing the original Droid. Every customer service rep I talked to was clueless for release date but always ended with, "but you can buy the Droid right now." One had to feel some of the feet dragging was intentional to promote the Droid. It seems like deja vu again but this time verizon is pushing apple over google. I think this is just how verizon works. They are a huge publically owned company that is interested in maximizing profit at the expense of customer satisfaction at times. I think Verizon will do what it wants to do regardless of us, Best Buy or the limited bad press it is getting on the Android forums. Man, they had a few issues with the initial iphone shipment and the mainstream press was all over it. I wonder how many even has heard of the TB. The good news is that the Omnia 2 was finally released without all the hype and came sooner than some of the later predictions. We can only hope as much with the TB.

Just look at these forums for an examples on how it's damaged... are there lots of posts? Yes. But now the commentary has gone from a very hopeful and probably 2/14 release date to anger over the slippage.

I think what really solidified this was the Best Buy Pre-orders. That gave it an official stamp that while VZW didn't say anything, a company they signed an exclusivity agreement with did. If BB had not taken pre-orders... it'd still be speculation.

I don't think it was the pre-orders. Nothing in print from Best Buy had the 14th as an official release date. That date came conversations with sales reps., managers, etc. who (in hindsight) should not have given out. Had they not given a set date, there wouldn't be anything wrong with the pre-orders IMO.

I'm gonna be out camping with my girl on v-day and won't get my t-bolt til the 15th at the earliest T_T

people may be upset over the "leaked" delay but just about everyone is still going to go out and get the TB as soon as it comes out. Most that have an android now are jumping ship to IOS.
