The PEEVES you PET

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

When people drop an ice cube from the freezer and don't pick it up/kick it under the fridge.

That's no problem here...one of the two dogs will always get it.

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

Here in the boonies, we have fairly long stretches of empty road. I'll be flipping down the road at 60 mph, no one behind me, when someone pulls out in front of me and does 30 mph. One guy did that to me and we ended up at the same place. When I got out of the car, he said I had a heavy foot. I told him he couldn't read the speed limit sign and to stop pulling out in front of people doing the speed limit.

Yep, that one jerked my chain.

What?! ...I'm msndrstood.

What's worse is when they don't kick it under the fridge and you either step on a point of the cube and it jabs you in the foot or you step on a cold wet puddle in the middle of the night.

My kids drop blueberries on the floor and don't pick them up. Same scenario but messier.

People that drive slow in the fast lane could be a thread unto itself.

Does anybody else get road rage with a shopping cart at the grocery store. You don't have to squeeze everyloaf of bread and block the ile. Thats one of my pet peeves

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

Lately I have been getting very annoyed when people look at my dog and say, "is that a Rottweiler? He would look just like a Doberman if he had his ears cut."

Or when people take their dog and leave the dog park when we bring him in, all the while staring daggers at me for bringing my "aggresive breed dog" to the dog park.

Hitting the tendon area on my foot when I'm so relaxed on the rocking chair.... Painful!

Have you seen the ones where some ladies go to the market with their pushing cart for baby and their other kids.. As they have their teen pushing the baby chair they push the market chart and create an awkward barrier because their kids see you trying to pass but don't bother moving?.... While their husband is at the car all relaxed...:banghead:

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

Having to apologize to my wife when i KNOW i'm right, just to get past the aggravation.

I assume you said this with a touch of humor, but I am wondering.

Is it more important to be right or to have peace? I can think of at least 3 things today that I apologized to my wife for even though I was not at fault (wrong) for, and I had no control over them because I cannot control the actions of others.

When my wife and I argue/disagree and things are tense between us I choose to look at it this way, I can choose to apologize and do what is needed to keep/restore the peace. Or I can choose to stay angry/upset and wait for her to apologize to me.

Even if she is wrong I will apologize to her, simply because it was wrong of me to allow things to escalate to that point. While we do have a marriage of equals from time to time someone has to swallow a little pride and just do the right thing.

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

These are NOT in order of importance.

1) People that cannot make a proper left hand turn in the US. They either do not pull 1/2 way thru the intersection like they are supposed to, or they will sit thru an entire green light cycle waiting for that green left turn arrow.

2) People that drive the wrong way thru a store parking lot, especially when there are directional arrows painted at each end of every row.

3) Sitting in the passenger seat, I hate not doing the driving. I know, I know, it might be hard for some of you to believe this but I can be a bit of a control freak on occasion.

4) Before my oldest went to college his worst habit was leaving just a little bit of milk in the jug and putting it back in the fridge. When he left I told my wife I wouldn't have to worry about that anymore. Well now my 15 year old has started doing it.

5) People that text and drive

6) PEOPLE THAT DO NOT WATCH OUT FOR MOTORCYCLES.

7) Being late to a movie.

8) Children that are disrespectful towards their parents or other adults.

9) Children that misbehave while in the store, and parents that yell at their kids for misbehaving in the store. I actually watched a woman push a little girl to the round in a walmart parking lot. (I took a picture of the license plate and then made an anonymous call to children's services.)

I think each case needs to be determined separately.

If i drove 20 miles over the speed limit on the interstate (which most people do) and she got upset... i guess i would apologize, because even though my reasoning is that i'm just keeping with the flow of traffic, it's still 20mph over the limit.

If it was something about how disrespectful my stepson is towards me, there's no way i'm backing down. He feels that even though he lives under my roof and stuffs his face with groceries that my hard-earned work paid for, that he can do whatever he wants and treat everyone like crap.

We had a big argument about that yesterday and my wife thinks I lost my cool (never allowed to lose my cool, i'm "supposed to know better" ) and hasn't spoken to me since yesterday.

?? I think signatures are stupid.

1) I never saw this weird phenomenon until i moved to Atlanta. It drives me crazy.

2) I drive the wrong way up and down parking lot rows all the time and i'm proud of it (i'm from New Yawk, waddaya expect?). :D

3) I can't stand being a passenger either.

4) My stepson does that BS too.

5) I text n drive, but i'm a pro. :D j/k

6) Motorcycles that do not watch out for CARS. I was rear-ended by a motorcycle while i was sitting in traffic last year.

7) I can't stand missing the first few minutes of a movie either. The rest of the movie always feels "off balance".

8) Re-read my post from a few minutes ago. :)

9) Good call.

+1 to Cars need to know about motorcycles... or just, in general know they're not the only thing on the road...

By the same token, I see lots of motorcycles that drive between the lanes during heavy traffic conditions. Every time I see that I have visions of them going by me so I can open my door or slightly swerve right as they pass.

I hate people who complain about things in public.

I was just thinking about this yesterday when I was behind some yutz whose bumper was barely over the line in the left turn lane at a left turn yield light.
