Absolutely hate the new Target commercial. What the "Ula Ula" were they thinking.

People who have had everything practically handed to them and cant stop complaining long enough to see how easy they've had it or what they have to be grateful for.

People who think they are entitled to special treatment.

When my husband lays on the bed diagonally, or manages to take up both sides of a king size bed.

LOL about the bed thing, and yes, people (like my kids) that don't have any idea how good they have it (and act like they have something to be so angry about), really bugs me.

?? I think signatures are stupid.

By the same token, I see lots of motorcycles that drive between the lanes during heavy traffic conditions. Every time I see that I have visions of them going by me so I can open my door or slightly swerve right as they pass.

This is called lane splitting, in California it is legal for motorcycles to do this. Every biker I know has went down at least once, if a car was involved it is just about always the car drivers fault not the bikers. In a car you and your passengers are protected by close to 3k pounds of steel, aluminum, plastic, and fiberglass. You have seat belts and air bags. So when in a car we allow ourselves to become distracted by cell phones, fixing makeup/hair, dogs sitting in our lap, kids screaming fighting, playing in the back seat. So we don't really pay as much attention to the vehicles around us. On a bike we might have a helmet some states require one, some don't. Even I at sometimes do not wear a helmet. We might also have a leather jacket or some chaps but this is mainly used for cold weather riding. Now I have also seen some sport bike riders in full Kevlar protective gear from head to toe. The point is that however much or little protection we have we have to carry it on our bodies. So we tend to be very defensive when we ride. I am constantly trying to watch and anticipate what each car is and might do as it approaches me.

A few months ago when my mom and step dad came back from Florida, mom said that she had seen me out on my bike and that she honked and waved but I didn't see her. I don't worry over who is in what car when I am riding, I worry about what that car is going to do.

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

I have one. Someone asks for help about some random noob problem. You respond to their post and they never respond back. They disappear from the universe and are never seen again. No "thanks" or "like".

You don't even know if the time you took to respond was actually helpful to this stranger.

I have more patience for this on the forum because, well, sometimes you have no clue how to find it again and you aren't automatically subscribed to your own thread so you don't even know someone responded. BUT when I do it on a list serve and the person can't take the 1/2 second it takes to hit reply and say thanks, THAT really p's me off. I got to the point where I stopped responding to anyone. How rude. Like I had nothing better to do than sit down and type out a response to your question. What do they think? That answering their question was my life's calling so doing it was thanks enough. Argh.

This is a huge issue with bicycles. People tend to blame drivers for everything, but when a bike is not stopping at intersections, moving between cars, nor paying attention to when someone is making a right turn, or making a right turn in front of a car (because they were on the drivers side instead of the curb side), it's not the drivers fault for not seeing them.

Same with pedestrians. Pedestrians need to look before walking into the street. Having the "right of way" does not mean that the bus barreling down the street is going to stop just because you choose to step out in front of it. The bus driver will get blamed. Maybe he shouldn't have been driving so fast, but the pedestrian should have had the common sense to wait.

Plus you sometimes have bikes that shoot across the intersection in the crosswalk instead of walking it across and they do this right when you are making a right turn.

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

I have seen bikers do some stupid things. Yes, people in cars need to watch out for motorcycles. But, motorcyclists need to also realize that just because we are expected to watch for them doesn't mean they can just dart in and out of traffic. Defensive driving or not, darting in and out of traffic tends to leave them in blind spots. Last year I witnessed a motorcyclist cut three lanes of traffic, and then tried to right hand pass, via the median, an 18 wheeler taking an exit on the right hand side. You can imagine what happened.

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

I assume you said this with a touch of humor, but I am wondering.

Is it more important to be right or to have peace? I can think of at least 3 things today that I apologized to my wife for even though I was not at fault (wrong) for, and I had no control over them because I cannot control the actions of others.

When my wife and I argue/disagree and things are tense between us I choose to look at it this way, I can choose to apologize and do what is needed to keep/restore the peace. Or I can choose to stay angry/upset and wait for her to apologize to me.

Even if she is wrong I will apologize to her, simply because it was wrong of me to allow things to escalate to that point. While we do have a marriage of equals from time to time someone has to swallow a little pride and just do the right thing.

My feance said that you can be right or you can be happy but you can't be both

Lol, my wife hates if I lay diagonally, but king size isn't brontasaurus sized, they should be longer.

My husband is 5'5 and will sleep right in the middle of the freaking bed, or scoots all the way to my side and locks me in. It drives me crazy because I toss and turn a lot.

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

I go to sleep on one side and wake on the other. *shrug* my wife just decided we were going to change sides, but I don't believe in arbitrary borders so she's out of luck.

My husband will go to bed diagonally clutching my pillow. Then gets upset when I wake him to get into bed. I think I'm starting to understand how the "separate bedrooms" thing starts. Sometimes it would be a lot easier than trying to pull the pillow out of his grasp and push him over.

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

We have a king bed, and if he stops snoring, I will stretch my leg over to his side and nudge him, just to make sure he's still kicking. If he wakes up, he knows what I'm doing, lol. Just checking... :p

What?! ...I'm msndrstood.

People.

This. My husband tells everyone I won't be happy until we have a six foot wall and a moat around our property.

He's right. :p

I'd love a moat. Working on the fence right now.

Re: Pet Peeves of the AC

Haha forget the moat, I need a castle.
