The People's ROM or MOAR?

I am rooted and running the stock ROM. Since the last update the volume output is extremely low, especially with any equalizer. I have decided that it is time for a new ROM and I narrowed it to these 2 and would appreciate any input for a new Rommer. I have Titanium Back Up and Nova backed up to make the transition a little easier.

Thanks for your opinion.

Only other need besides higher volume is the ability to tether.

I love MOAR. Awesome ROM and can customize may things with it. I don't know about tethering, due to I don't use mine, and the last I knew Sprint has been cracking down on locking the tethering.

I haven't used The People's ROM, but I have tried MOAR and I can say you won't be disappointed. Try them both out and see which one you prefer.

They are both good ROMS. Wicked is also up there with them. And plenty of support.

I've not used People's ROM either but I've been very happy with MOAR 4.01. Getting ready to flash 5.01 today.

Let me know how you like it, I have all of my back ups made and am getting ready, can I flash it or do I need Odin?

I like flashing, ask my wife.

So I can just clear the usual and then flash over the stock root? Nice, I see there are a ton of add ons to choose from.

Yup. Always clear cache. Other than that, flash and have fun.

I would recommend, when flashing a different ROM than what's on your phone, that you clear cache, clear Dalvik, and clear data / factory reset before flashing the new ROM.

ALWAYS clear cache and dalvik. Not clearing Dalvik before flashing a new ROM is pretty much guaranteed to cause you issues. You can take your chances with not doing a factory reset first, and if things get flaky do a reset afterwards.

So far, so good on MOAR 5.01. There are a couple of minor glitches. If you enable display of the brightness slider, it goes away every time you reboot, and you need to uncheck and recheck the option to display it. And morphology has lost the option to set the status bar as an image; instead, you can set the status bar color directly in the ROM, but only solid, flat colors.

Other than that, it works great, and has a ton of customization options.

I am installing MOAR for the third time, at first I was trying to use TiBu but missed the pass on signing into Google first, then I got all my apps in and was fiddling with a bunch of settings and turned on talk back, because I like talking caller ID, but ended up enabling talk back for everything, not only annoying but froze the phone into a constant reboot. I can't post at xda in that forum so I don't know if anyone else had that problem.

I installed the KToonsez Kernel, Naddicts Tribute, rest stock except for 50% louder.

I am running TiBu to restore my apps again, will play around after.

I found the talking Caller ID in Driving Mode, and now I have a toggle so I can access it quicker, Talk Back annouces everything and even when I have no blocks checked it won't shut up. Still have a lot to figure out.

I had a texting issue, I could send but not receive, dialed ##72786# and it is all good. Would like to change the colors of the text bubbles, but don't see an option for it.

The only other issue is having to uncheck and then check the brightness slider to get it to show on the drop down.

i have used both they both are good.

I am currently running CM10.1. Told my self that i will run CM for a month. and than decide what rom to stick to.

I am not happy with the 4G speed. It's 3G so far. I was getting between 5 and 10 Mbps, now it's around 1 or 1.5. Plus I had to reboot to go from 3G to 4G when I got here. I will wait 1 day to see if it doesn't gets better or else I have to revert to original stock root.

The ROM has no real impact on 3G vs. 4G or download speeds. That's mostly the network, but the radio (modem) software can also impact it. If you're using the latest modem (MD4), try flashing an older one and see if that makes a difference. Some people report getting better results, in particular locations, with a different version of the modem software.

I am running MD4, I was with my last ROM. I am not getting any speeds or even a good connection any where, unless I run wifi at home. Now it popped up and said my RootCall Blocker Pro is invalid, it's been running fine until now. I like the look but not digging the performance.

So I can just flash the modem file even though it's built in?

In order to change the modem software I clear cache and dalvik, flash modem and then flash the ROM again?

The modem and the ROM are completely separate. Flashing the ROM doesn't change the modem, and flashing a modem doesn't change the ROM.

I'm not sure you even need to clear cache and dalvik, but it won't hurt. You don't need to reflash the ROM.

I don't know about root call blocker, but MOAR has it's own call blocker built in, which might be interfering with the add-on package.
