Phone seems to randomly forget what it is (or something like that)
It has done this maybe 3 times. The most recent was a few minutes ago. The phone turned off and came back on, but did not have any reception.

The about phone screen displays this:
Hardware version: unknown
model number: sch-I500
firmware: 2.2.1
baseband: unknown
kernel: 2.6.32.9
build: sch-I500.DL30

I did the froyo root per the instructions posted here a day or two after they were put on the board...

Any suggestions? I depend on my phone, and it is sort of unnerving for me to pick it up and find it randomly not working.

try reflashing the modem with odin,
this is actually DL09 for experimental purposes

Thanks, DX. I'll give it a shot. This happens so randomly that I can't post results unless it becomes worse.

Hopefully it was just a bad flash, i dont know if the radio software is flashed on a seperate circuit board, maybe the board is loose. I don't know enough about the hardware. if it keeps happening it would be safe to assume its a hardware issue and not software

again

Well, at 1130 pm it happened again. The phone was on the desk beside me, and then rebooted and had no service. Hadn't touched the phone in an hour or so and the desk wasn't moving, so I don't think a loose board or anything hardware wise is the culprit, because the phone was completely still and had been for some time.

Odd thing is, it is showing DL30, and I am nearly 100% sure I flashed it to DL09. I'll try again and verify it...

I would say ODIN back to stock and OTA to the latest build. It sounds to me like something went wrong with the root back in March. If redoing the phone fixes the issue, you can root Froyo by ODINing CWM and flashing the superuser zip.
