The phone requires a PIN code though the SIM card is open, how do I proceed?

The phone require PIN code though the SIM card is open

I broke the LCD display on my Galaxy S4. I replaced it and the phone comes on OK now, but it comes only to the screen where you are supposed to dial in a PIN code. My SIM card does not have a PIN code, thought. I can only perform emergency calls. The operator company name is displaced on the screen so it actually recognizes that the SIM card is present. The phone also receives SMS messages but I can not read them because it prompts me for a PIN code. How shall i proceed?

That PIN isn't for the SIM card, that PIN is security on the phone. You never set up a PIN to unlock the device?

No, or else I have forgotten it. Is it anyway to bypass it? Is this also a four digit pin code? Is there anyway to reset the password without performing a full factory reset? I assume it came without any lock?

Some carriers can unlock your phone. Contact them first!
