The phone WE want vs. the phone THEY tell us we want...

I'd prefer 64GB of internal memory to the meagre 16GB that I currently have but I'd still want the option of having external storage too; they are not mutually exclusive.

Unfortunately the carriers in the UK don't usually offer the bigger memory versions of the popular phones although they might be able to get them to order. However, they probably wouldn't have a pricing structure in place for non-standard devices so it might work out very expensive. Buying the phone online and getting a SIM only plan might be a better option if one can afford the upfront cost.
 
Samsung is no longer making what I want - a flagship smartphone with a FLAT, rather than curved, display panel.

5 years with Samsung, I will probably get an LG next, don't want an edge display.

I miss removable batteries and the physical home button, but a curved display is junk, and I know a number of people that agree.

Of course a number of people agree, and you could say that about ANY phone. That's why we have plenty of choices.
