It's the second worst out out of the 4 phones, but only beaten by 8 minutes by the Note 11 Plus. It actually beat the OnePlus 7T Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max is only 43 minutes more. No surprise that the iPhone won, but I was expecting it would beat the Pixel by more than an hour. This definitely changes my mind about the Pixel now.

iPhone 11 Pro Max 9 hours 13 minutes
Note 10 Plus 8 hours 38 minutes
Pixel 4 XL 8 hours 30 minutes
OnePlus 7T Pro 8 hours 12 minutes

I don't like using the first and second day as testing because the first 2 days your usage is much more as far as what you are doing bc installing all the apps, updates accounts etc. So for me i fully charged it and have had the phone off the charger 5 hours ago with 62% Battery and 2 hrs of screen on time. However, I used those 2 full house mostly for the setup so lots going on. Now that I'm done with installing and updating all my apps and accounts tomorrow I'll test it. Although it's kind of hard to put the phone down right now "honeymoon phase" we will see.

Agreed, I'm at 48% with 4 hrs 4 min of screen usage. Last full charge 8 hours ago. This is my first day with the phone and I've been setting it up, downloading apps and playing with it off & on all day. I'm impressed so far.

Pixel 4 XL: 3700 mAh battery. 8h 30m run time
11 Pro Max: 3969 mAh battery. 9h 13m run time
Note 10+: 4300 mAh battery. 8h 38m run time
7T Pro: 4085 mAh battery. 8h 12m run time

Pixel 4 XL looks pretty impressive to me on battery usage in this test!

Note 10+ should be little ashamed with that big of battery and still only getting that much battery. But atleast Samsung throws in a massive battery to compensate for the lack of optimization.

Overall not bad from pixel 4 xl, it went toe to toe with the Note 10+. If they had put 4000 instead of 3700 then i think all the battery life complaints would have gone

Disappointing from OP7T pro.

That iPhone though still killing it like a boss

To be fair one plus has the 90hz screen and that eats battery , if anyone else after this year goes to 90hz probably not going get best battery life .

Yeah, the Pixel also had 90 Hz, that's why I'm quite impressed that it only lost to the note 10 Plus by 8 minutes!

Seems like a flawed test. Screens are the biggest drain on power. Yet, you can clearly tell the Note and OnePlus are set brighter. He said they were in auto mode, so those phones are likely pushing higher nits, because they have a higher nit brightness screen than the Pixel.

Would make a more apples to apples comparison if he could match the brightness being run.

See below, its like the phones are in order from dark to brightest.

I think the battery stuff was blown out of proportion. I had 5 hours of screen on time and was at 43% battery remaining. I'd have 6-7 hours screen on time easily if I had time to push it. That's more than enough for me...

This is why I never trust all YouTuber because they used the phone to do crazy stuff than normal user.

Yup EXACTLY!!!

Now they're saying the battery isn't all that bad and some of them is even saying not to listen to all the reviewers because they use the phones differently.

Of course they're all saying that because everybody isn't having the same experiences that they're having. I know I'm not and if my battery gets low, I'll just pop it on the charger.

I'll bet that some one who doesn't even own the phone will argue with you and tell you the battery isn't good because some YouTuber said so

You’re forgetting display size. The Note 10+ needs that big battery for good battery life and a QHD 6.8 inch AMOLED display. The Pixel 4 XL has a 6.3 inch 90hz FHD OLED display.

Rule #1 of tech reviews: DON’T LET YOUTUBE REVIEWERS INFLUENCE YOU.

80% of them are clickbait, 15% of them are unfair/biased/invalid and the remaining 5% are probably fair but they are always hidden away.

If you’re going to watch a YouTube review make sure it’s from a reliable source (like AC, Android Authority, TechRadar, Trusted Reviews etc)

To be fair even Android Central was blasting the battery.

The pixel 4 XL is QHD also. If anything, with the 90Hz display, the pixel uses more battery to power it.

It's good to see the Pixel 4XL isn't as bad as all the pre-order hysteria. I don't know why the Pixel draws such negativity with every release but I've gotten used to it.

I typically don't place a lot of value on tests because a test needs to be well controlled to fair. Even so they can be somewhat useful in deciding to go with better battery life or other features. The difference from the shortest to the longest in battery life is one hour so I don't see any need to pick one over the other unless that hour is critical. Because of high speed charging, for my own personal needs even two or three hours wouldn't be a deal killer but something to consider.

Since mine arrived yesterday I was impressed with the battery life while I set the phone up. The phone arrived with 52% battery charge and between setup, downloading and installing 75 apps, using it to reply to email, texts, web browsing, and about 30min of mild game play I got 2hrs 45min screen on time in 7hrs and 14min it took me to get it to 1%. No I don't have a screen shot of the usage stats though for exact amount of usage.

I typically don't finish a day with more than 4-4.5 hrs screen on time in my heaviest usage unless I am traveling in an airport or something and then I normally have a battery pack. So far not dissapointed with it in the half day I have had it.

I don't agree with much of this at all. I find many reviews very helpful. As long as you trust the site or reviewer, then you can gain valuable info.

Now if you've already made up your mind about getting a device, then it's all moot anyway right? At that point, some buyers are looking for conformation bias reviews. If you actually are on the fence with a certain device, I find some sites reviews excellent, and mostly matching personal experiences I end up having with phones - good and bad.

Most don't use it the way your average user would...
