I consider myself a platform agnostic tech geek. I am fascinated by all tech, regardless of platform, brand, etc. and I love to tinker with all manner of gadgets.

The past year-and-a-half has been a busy one for me. During that time I've used (in order) a Lumia 521, iPhone 5, BlackBerry Z30, Lumia 822, BlackBerry Bold 9930, BlackBerry Q10, and a BlackBerry Z10. As you can see, I’ve been very partial to BlackBerry’s BB10 devices for their excellent out-of-the box features, communication and productivity, security, and their ability to run Android apps.

But prior to this time of experimentation, would you believe that I used a Galaxy Nexus (Google Play Edition) for a year? An entire year! That's quite a feat for me, as you now know! There was something about that Gnex that had incredible staying power with me.

And now I’ll get to enjoy Android again because…

My new Moto X 2nd Gen is being built as I write this!

I was one of the lucky ones to get a Cyber Monday promo code, and for the specs and unique features the Moto X 2014 brings to the table, I just couldn't resist. The fact that I was able to qualify for credit with 12 months deferred interest really helped, as well. :)

I was pretty conservative on the customizations. Back: slate, front: black, accent: royal blue, no engraving, no personalized boot screen. Given my fickle nature with tech, I wanted to make it easy to sell, if desired.

The more I learn about the Moto X, the more I am impressed and eager to try out its features. What an amazing device!

I have a feeling that this phone may manage to keep my attention long enough for me to enjoy it for quite a while before I decide to move on.

I am looking forward to interacting with everyone here at Android Central and learning about all the interesting things that have been happening with the platform since I've been away.

My very first smartphone ever was an Android phone - a LG Optimus V. And now it appears I’ve come full circle.

The prodigal son has returned. :)

Welcome back! And boy, those are a lot of phones for a year and a half!

I still miss the BlackBerry keyboard... but I couldn't go back to small screens.

Thanks!

And in all fairness, the new BlackBerry Passport has a 4.5" screen with 1440 x 1440 resolution @ 453 PPI + the trademark physical keyboard. :)

It's always good to have another multi-device member around.😊
I'm partial to Lumias myself and hope that one day there'll be an Android with a camera as good as the 1020's.

I figure why limit myself to a single brand or platform? There is so much great tech out there, and so many things they can all bring to the table.

I really liked the Lumias I tried out, and I agree about the cameras. Best I've ever used on any smartphone. I still have my Lumia 822 and fire it up sometimes just to see what's new in the world of Windows Phone.

Honestly, though, I feel my Moto X 2014 is probably going to win me back over to Android as my daily driver for quite some time. The more I learn about it, the more it seems like a fantastic all-around device. And Google's products and services are pretty hard to beat.

In all fairness... that thing is ugly haha (IMHO, your mileage might vary)
And I tried one, and while it may have a physical keyboard, it's NOT the BlackBerry keyboard I came to love. Same thing happened with Lenovo computers. They used to have the perfect laptop keyboard, and then some bozo decided to redesign it for their newer line, and now it's crap. :(

Fair enough. It's definitely a niche device, and that was the intent. Even I can't bring myself to get one. :)

Hey Newfangled! *waves*

I'm with you (as you know from CB) and I can give you a run for your money on phones in the last year and a half. I'm whittled down to my iPhone 6+ (primary), Nexus 5 (backup/plaything), and Optimus G (work issued), oh and a Palm Pixi Plus (DAMN YOU HP!!!). In the last year and a half or so, I've also had Q5, Z10, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5, Lumia 710, HTC One M7, HTC One M8, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S 4 and for a short while a Note 3 and a OnePlus One. I can't imagine being locked into a single platform. There's so much to learn and see in the others!

I am seriously lusting after a Moto X 2014 in the white and bamboo though.

Mmmmmmmmmmm....

Wow, and I thought I had a problem! ;)

I have never tried a Palm WebOS device. That will forever be a regret of mine. I've heard so many good things about the OS and its multi-tasking prowess. Such a shame HP got its incompetent hands on Palm.
