The S6 Edge is more trouble than it's worth

I think there is just a certain type of person that buys a phone and instead of working with the phone, tweeking it and looking for fixes to over come issue they just want to post to pick a fight...

I got the phone about a month ago and had no issue did a few things like screen brightness, 15 sec lock screen etc and got a days worth of use no issue.

But again its a smart phone so if charge is going to be an issue get a battery pack.

This phone is great, slim and light, great looking and camera is crazy sharp.

If you get the phone be smart enough to know if there is a problem that is causing issue then return it, replace it or buy something else and move on!

go to any product forum and its likely to be mainly complaints, people dont go to forums usually to talk about how great and perfect everything is running, people reach out when theres issues and they need help or to vent,

way its always been ive found

As a veteran of the net since it first started, I tend to agree. People only see what they want to see, and only see things that support their point of view. I'm guilty of this as well. But it's obvious that people are more vocal when they get a bad device. It's human nature. I'm sure there are millions of people out there NOT having problems. Otherwise it would be ALL OVER the net with countless posts saying that the product is basically flawed. I go to 4-5 forums a day, have many android related youtube subscriptions, and generally check out all android related material every day. If the S6 was that bad, I would have heard much more about it than just a few posts on a couple message boards.

But also I do believe in the "first adopters get screwed" theory. It seems that in the first few months of any devices release, there is a higher % of dissatisfied customers. That's because it takes time to work out any bugs in the hardware/software manufacturing process. That's why I generally wait at least 6 months before buying any phone. I don't want the first batch fresh off the line.

Again, forums are usually filled with those with problems and is not a true gauge of how many people are actually experiencing problems. Until I see cold hard facts, I'm going to take any forum posts with a HUGE grain of salt. Present facts, not just gut feelings.

Great point! Funny how lots of people are willing to pay a premium for a new release/software with bugs rather than get a deal 6 months down the road with stable software.

I have a new S6 Edge and I'm not seeing any of the problems you describe. The battery only drains quickly if I use the phone a lot, and the fast charging is *very* fast. I've never gotten down to a 5% charge, but charging from around 25% to 35% up to 100% takes < 20 minutes.

Sounds like you got a defective handset. I take mine off the charger at 6am. I am a heavy user, and it goes until about 8pm of I drive somewhere (wireless charger on the car) and give it a little juice.. Or till 6pm if I'm 100% battery all day.

On further thought, I think the abnormal heating is a clue. Too much power is being dissipated as heat, which makes me suspect you have defective hardware. I think you should take the phone back and get a replacement.

You're a heavy user and Cell Standby is the biggest drain in that screenshot? I also dont think your data there is all that impressive. Am I missing something or should you be someone complaining about battery?

5. Every day it asks me to select something as either one time only or always. Apparently always doesn't mean always.

WOW!! that's unacceptable. my S4 doors that to, and I hoped the LO update would finally fix it. I was wrong. It says to go to settings to disable, but it still happens.

I can't believe the S6 (or even the S5) didn't address that. I wasn't planning on getting one personally, and I really think it's a great phone, but I wouldn't buy it for that reason alone.

Yeah I am lucky, I have a Nexus 6. ;)

What about the millions of people with no complaints? Forums are a very small sample, and can't be taken as a true gauge as to how many people are having problems. I can go to any forum and find numerous complaints about any phone. It just seems like a lot of people are having problems, but in reality it's just those unhappy people that are more vocal. Until I see empirical data on exactly what % of people are having problems, I'm not going to worry about any phone I buy. It's always the people with a bone to pick that say exactly what you just did, as if millions and millions of phones are crap. I don't buy it.

I hear ya, but in this particular case I think you might be wrong. my friend owns an authorized dealer and she's noticed a lot of the same issues we've seen on the forums amongst the masses. I do agree that people with issues are more vocal (I own a business and get 50% of my customers via online marketing. One bad Yelp review, which can be one customer out of 1,000 can be devastating).

The S6 is extremely inconsistent though, and just my opinion, but a person that doesn't know much about phones shouldn't have to make so many tweaks just to get decent battery life.

Samsung clearly went toe to toe with Apple this year, and amongst the masses, people like iPhone cause they can take it out of the box and in 5 minutes their good to go.

If Samsung wants to attract that consumer base, fine, but people shouldn't have to disable half the features they paid for. Their numbers for the month have been rumored to be underwhelming, and that's a big reason why.

I thought the same, considering it's 20% and he's at 50% with 7 hours left, that's not good battery at all. seems like the cell standby issue we've heard so many times
