HTC One launches in 'glamour red', arrives in the UK next month (update: pricing)

I think this looks fantastic, but knowing the phone as I do, I know all that cheeky redness would only get buried in a case to keep it safe. Nice as it is, I do hope that HTC are not going to go down the Samsung route and start releasing a new variation every couple of months, there are already five variants of the S4 and limited edition colours on the way as well. I can understand the need for the publicity it generates and how it might sway new customers, but if the practice becomes more widespread, I for one would think twice about buying a new-to-market handset when there is a more than a good chance that there will be a 'special edition' three months down the road.

That's actually kinda gross looking to me, personally. That red would be much too distracting when you're trying to concentrate on the screen. Coming off using black phones for ages (iPhones) I already find the silver slightly distracting. The difference between the silver and the red is someone poking you in the shoulder as you're counting numbers, and someone shouting random numbers in your ear at full volume as you're trying to count.

Before you ask why I didn't get the black one then, I live in Canada, they didn't have them available up here.

I am glad I am not the only one who thinks the red HTC One is a bit over-the-top and distracting. I'd have bought black but I have almost always used black devices and thought it was time for a change. I always wanted a white iPhone but they were rarely ever available here, so silver was a huge change for me and I am liking it so far.

Gotta agree - that red is lovely. But I'm sticking with black devices - I'd case the heck outta that thing anyways. I'm way too paranoid about damaging it to rock the naked look.

I love the red! Things are getting colorful. Shoes, clothes and accessories of all kinds. Phones are finally becoming something that is also a fashion statement.. Great to see color options. Black is so traditional and 90s..

Yep, it'll be just like the 80's in another year or so. That's how the 80's were. Bright colors, followed by pastels, followed by Grunge and anti-everything rhetoric. It always goes that way. It's just not the color for me.

Thank you for sharing. I am not a fan of the red - the silver looks real sharp and while we have all become accustom to black phones the black HTC One gets my vote as the best color to date for the phone.
