My son swears that robots will be prescient in our life time. Michio Kaku, not so much. I'm on the fence. Right now, it's scifi stuff, but we are moving rapidly in that direction. We do know that life forms exist that utilize silicon as we do carbon, but do know of any self awareness exhibited by these organisms. Similarly, are bacteria prescient? They learn to resist every anti biotic we throw at them and develop pretty ingenious ways to thwart every new one that comes through the pipeline, eventually. It could be considered a form of intelligent self defense. So the next step from Robot to prescient being might not be that much of a leap as we think.
