[Theme][Port]GummyBeast - An Altered Beast theme for GummyCHARGED

I ran this for a few days and it was running fine. Today I did a battery pull and reboot because my homescreen shortcuts stopped working to my sd installed programs and I ended up in that same loop boot. Dunno if it was the theme or not just giving a heads up if anyone else has issues

As far as I know the apks in the theme should not affect homescreen shortcuts at all or have any interaction keeping you from the SD card, so this seems to be unrelated. As you were running fine for a few days, it could have been multiple things (installed app, something in the rom, etc) that caused this issue. If you can narrow it down to being caused by the theme please let me know and I will work on resolving it ASAP. Thanks for the heads up though! :D

Also, if anyone else sees this issue please let me know here or in a PM.

Using GC 1.8.1 and it somewhat worked. It was a bit choppy and the dock buttons did not update on the theme. the GC ones remained so I flashed back to the ROM to reset the theme.

Which dock buttons do you mean? This theme should not affect performance, all it does is change images. I just tried this over GC 1.8.1 and everything was as it was supposed to be and ran fine. I'm sorry this did not work for you :(

Maybe I did something incorrectly. I don't mind trying it again. I meant the buttons on the bottom (phone, app drawer, browser, etc.). Also did I change the theme back to default correctly by just flashing the gc rom again? I have a pbjt kernel w voodoo enabled.

Thank you for the reply!

No problem! The phone, app drawer, etc buttons will not change with this theme unfortunately as they are part of a customized launcher and I did not include this with the theme. If you want to recreate it I was using launcher pro and the icons found at the following link:

xda-developers - View Single Post - [Collection] ICON SETS | About *600* different Icon Packs [INDEX on 2nd post]

Flashing the GC rom was the correct way to return to the default theme :) Hope that helps!!

KainGC,

I am on 1.8.1 and tried installing one of the GummyThemes but it sent my phone into a bootloop. I was able to recover by reinstalling GummyCharged. Any insight on this?

Saw this on rootzwiki. Do you have to use the toolbox?
GummyToolbox Tips and How-To's

I would suggest signing up fir that forum too. Its kejars stomping grounds.

Oops, dammit I posted it in the wrong thread. This was meant for the actual GummyCharged thread, sorry.

Re: [Theme][Port]GummyBeast - An Altered Beast theme for GummyCHA

Can anyone confirm if this is working on gummycharged 1.8.5

I have just tested this and found that the theme does not work with GC 1.8.5. Kejar made some changes to the power menu so I need to adjust the theme for this. Unfortunately, I'm at work so this may not happen until later tonight. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Edit: I have tracked down the issue and updated the OP with a new release that is now compatible with GC 1.8.5. I tested it for about an hour and did not find any issues with it. This version should also be backwards compatible with other EE4 ROMs, though there would be no difference between 0.4.0 and 0.3.8.

Please let me know if you find any issues with this release!

Hmmm, even the previous version (0.3.8) should not have boot looped you. The only issue with 0.3.8 was that the power menu would cause a restart because Kejar added some new options to the menu(recovery and download). 0.4.0 addressed this issue and I can confirm it is working fine on 1.8.5, but I did not flash over GC using one of the packaged themes.

Try going back to the default theme on GC before flashing this. This shouldn't affect anything but you never know. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Re: [Theme][Port]GummyBeast - An Altered Beast theme for GummyCHA

This is sort of a port of the Altered Beast theme used in DroidXcon's fantastic ROM usable for those of us on GummyCHARGED.

I was starting my foray into ROM making and theme-ing, and in my impatience waiting for GunnerMike and DroidXcon's new AB ROM (Take your time guys! We all know it's gonna be awesome!), I decided I would port over their wonderful work to the GummyCHARGED ROM so some of us can enjoy the EE4 world with AB's awesome style.

I did take some liberties and make some changes based on personal preference, so I apologize if I changed something you liked.

Note: I did this for myself as a personal learning experience and decided I'd share with anyone interested. I may do minor updates, but do not plan to support this much past Androphiles next AB release.

Whats Themed:
framework-res
twframework-res

I have only tested this by flashing via CWM over GummyCHARGED 1.5, so that is the only place I can guarantee it works.

If you appreciate my port please donate to DroidXcon, GunnerMike and kejar31 for their awesome work!!! All credit for this goes to them, I just simply moved some files around =) Also an extra big thanks to GunnerMike for being so awesome and understanding when I went ahead and posted this without asking permission to use his work! >.<

Please note: This will only work with the EE4 based ROMS, do not try to install it on Gingerbread based ROMs! I do not plan to port this over to the GB based ROMs, please use Androphiles inevitably awesome GB based AB release or ask them to create the separate theme!
GummyBeast-0.4.0.zip

3. Reboot into CWM

what buttons do you hold down to launch into recovery? Thanks

Re: [Theme][Port]GummyBeast - An Altered Beast theme for GummyCHA

Thanks for all of your help

Sorry for the late response, my computer has been down for two weeks so I have not been around as much as I'd like.

In case you never found your answer, you can boot into recovery with the following steps.

1. Turn the phone off completely (if in a boot loop, just remove and put the battery back in)
2. Hold the Volume Up and Home buttons
3. Press and hold the power button until the samsung logo is displayed, then release the power button
4. Continue to hold the volume up and home buttons until CWM starts

I'm sorry you are also having the bootloop issue, I still cannot recreate this and that means I cannot debug this issue. I have heard reports that if you re-flash the gummy .zip and try again it will work.

If anyone has experienced this issue 100% and has knowledge using ADB and wants to help me figure this out, please PM me!

Re: [Theme][Port]GummyBeast - An Altered Beast theme for GummyCHA

@KainGC- I tried to flash the GC ROM and the GB theme at the same time and I got stuck in bootloop. Is it because I did them at the same time? Do I need to have lagfix disabled? Do I need to just wipe the phone or do I have to clear all the cached even under the advanced tab in CWM? Does USB debugging have anything to do with this? Thanks for any insight.
