Themes and battery performance

So I've been using a dark theme for a few days now and honestly, I haven't noticed any difference from using the stock Samsung theme, with regards to battery performance. I certainly realize everybody's battery experience is different, but is using a dark theme to assist battery performance and urban myth or an actual thing? Not looking to start a war, but just wondering. Thanks.

Well seeing as how LED panels only power the pixels being used eg: color it makes perfect sense.

Think of the AoD, it consumes low power cause it's not using the entire screen like and LCD.

So no urban myths here.

unless your background wallpaper isn't completely black or the theme is using complete black, it won't help that much with battery life since it needs to power up for. any other color rather than black.

here's a tip. try using a black black keyboard from SwiftKey. it helps me with battery life.
