There is a 4G LTE phone with GB now, what's the excuse now?

I didn't buy my phone to tinker, I rooted because I wanted the new features in Sense 3.0. I don't complain about every little reboot or every time another newer phone from another company gets a newer os though. If you are that worried about it, then why WOULDN'T you fix it by rooting???? My battery life is SO much better. It really is gravy.

On the other hand HTC has said the T-bolt will get gb this month. Why don't you just chill and be patient.

I am interested in rooting - can you provide me the step by step intructions for doing so?

These forums are also full of people who bricked or otherwise messed up their phones by trying to root and are crying for help to fix them.

I'll give you that, I should have said: If you can read (and follow) instructions, rooting is gravy...

I understand your frustration about the update time line. When it boils down to it, the process on the consumer side sucks. Its the nature of the game. I can understand why HTC and Verizon wouldn't want to hurry an update (again) thats not ready. I, however, believe that if you can do something (that really is easy) to make your phone better, why wouldn't you?

The other course was very well stated: "Patience is the best way right now."

To root, follow these instructions:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/th...unroot-windows-updated-5-20-w-mr1-update.html

READ OVER THIS a couple of times so you FULLY understand the process.

Pick and download that ROM and a Radio that works with it. (This is the hardest step because of the shear number of options.) I would suggest to start out with one of the bigger names (BAMF, Gingeritis, Liquid). They're going to be smoother roms with more support. I really like the Uber BAMF p3, so that's where I would start.

you will need to register on their site, but go here to download the rom (download pr3):
[Gingerbread] Das BAMF "uber BAMF" Preview

and here to download the radio (I use the latest 2.11.605.0):
Radios!!

Then follow these instructions to apply them

I think it is hilarious that if you go the droid bionic page it has a glaring typo. It says the phone has 1 gligabyte of ram lol!

Why not? He has a very valid point.
No. He doesn't. Producing a software update for a phone already released and functional is entirely different than releasing a new phone with a newer version of software. Entirely different. Not comparable.

Still... looks like the THUNDERBOLT IS GOING TO BE THE FIRST 4G PHONE TO GET THE GB UPDATE! What in the 773H is everyone so excited about? It's no big deal.

Personally, I applaud HTC/VZW for giving the update to us 4G/ThunderBolt users first!

Doesnt it have1gig of ram(memory) and 1gig dual core? I don't see what's funny

First: He said "gligabyte", not gigabyte.

Second: What is "1gig dual core" anyway?

nm... I guess you meant 1GHz.

I respectfully disagree. Gingerbread has been out for a long time, Thunderbolt has been around, in development and as a product, for a long time. More than enough time to have GB pushed out to it.

It's not out now because it was a low priority. The OP's point is a valid one.

You are incorrect in your hairsplitting wording that thunderbolt is going to be the first 4G phone to get the GB update. I believe the Sprint 4G EVO already has the Gingerbread update. ;)

I've had GB for months... Works GREAT! Not dissapointed in the least! Sense 3.0 is awesome too. Not really ANY excuse if they were giving it ANY priority. But they're not, other newer phones coming out, we already bought ours, they see it as a privilege that we may get it at all.

LONG LIVE THE DEV COMMUNITY! :D

Hope you realize the official release wont be like the roms you have now, Sense 3.0 will not be installed and none of the performance tweaks that are loaded in the custom roms..

I can't wait for GB to OTA for the bolt. Just so I can hear complaining that it's no different than froyo like we've been telling some of you forever.

Won't you guys listen to people who have ACTUALLY been running GB for months?

Oh... you're right. I meant to say THE THUNDERBOLT WILL BE THE FIRST VZW 4G PHONE TO GET THE GB UPDATE! YAY! :D

Who isn't listening? I want names. :)

"I DONT KNOW WHY BUT I WANT GIBGERBREADDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!! GURGLE... GURGLE..... Deathgasp...."
(Sorry couldn't help it...)

If you posting here you are more than likely an enthusiast who would probably consider rooting.

To make a thread complaining to enthusiasts about something they have and everyone could easily have is silly.

Your whining to the deaf in my opinion. You would be better served whining to verizon or htc. (i.e. someone that can help you)

Gingerbread is great and fixed a lot of issues for me. I hope it comes to you all soon.

Sent from my Bolt via Tapatalk.

If I root mine will that stop VZW from being able to push a bug riddled GB update?

Once rooted you will no longer need or want to accept any Verizon update, if you do you might mess up your phone never update OTA on a rooted phone.

VZW's Facebook starting to get hit with complaints about Droid incredible gb update wiping the phone...I have more faith in das bamf than I do in Verizon...

Well Verizon has offered me two free months of service to upgrade to the bionic! I actually said no lol!. I can't believe I did not take the deal. I am off to root and enjoy pure thunderbolt bliss!!
