AC Question

There is no £ symbol available to sign in to an APP with (password) when using the latest Android version on my Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+. The £ symbol is available to text and email with only. I have definitely got the UK keyboard version, and have checked every other setting I can find, but it isnt there. I got someone else to check on their exact same phone (different network) but they do not have it available either. I`m pretty sure it was there before the most recent Android update.
Also, someone suggested holding down the $ key in order for the euro or pound symbol to appear - but nothing happens when doing this. Any ideas please?

Hold down the full-stop (dot) key which is to the right of the space-bar & you will see the £ pound sign. I'm using English (UK) on a Samsung S7 (nougat). My keyboard doesn't scroll down btw (ref. trader099 solution)

We have a galaxy 7 and the same issue. The little screen that appears when the full stop is pressed appears to be storing symbols that have been recently used. The £ appears when the entering into the username section. I typed a £ and then went to the password section. A much restricted keyboard appears and with no £ but it did appear when pressing the full stop.

I can confirm that.

I also had the issue described in the original post. In some apps, I couldn't make the £ sign appear no matter what (and I tried all of the above)

Use the £ once in an app where the full set of symbols is available, for instance as input in a search engine, then it is available next time you press the dot/full stop sign.

Is this thread still live? I have encountered the same issue with my new Galaxy S2. It's very irritating. The only thing that works for me is to change the keyboard to split mode, temporarily, when all the symbols appear. None of the solutions proposed above work.

All threads are still alive, but to make sure that your post is read, you really should start a new thread if the last post is more than a couple of weeks old.

Change into split mode and log in. Then change your password to the same thing but with the $ sign. Or any other symbol that's easily available. Or install a password app, like KeePassDroid, and just use the password app to copy the password, then switch to the app that needs the password, long-press the password box and tap Paste. (That way you can use a different long, mixed, senseless password for each use [sites, apps, etc.] with almost no work. [So if someone hacks a site and gets everyone's passwords, they can only use yours to get into that site. Reusing the same password is defeating the purpose of using passwords. [Unless it's for something that you don't care about, but it needs a password. You can reserve one easily remembered password for all those things - because who cares if someone impersonates you here? No one is really going to try.])

Think I solved it by holding down " globe" symbol next to space bar, it asks you to choose English Qwerty , then £ sign appeared !!
I had to go to settings first and " add a keyboard"( not English US)
Choose " English UK" then hold down globe thing while you are beginning to type something.
