so is it Q1 or Q2? verizon did state a few times it would be out before the second quarter and now they have said before the end of the 2Q? which is it?

If we knew, we wouldn't be going crazy like this.

This is an exert from an article that posted 25 mins ago. So what do they consider the first half of the year? Jan-June?? Now I'm even worried about my own date of 3/31.

The most frustrating part of this entire thing is that we have gone from being optimistic and knowing that it is Coming "soon", to being completely hopeless and left in the dark. I would say that I'd like to say screw it and move onto the Bionic, but since thats a VZW release as well, we have no idea when the hell that will come out. Verizon is making it increasingly difficult to make informed decisions about products you want to buy from them, because until they deem it necessary, there is literally no real information on these devices. That is starting to really get to me. I dont know how much longer I can wait and be left in the dark. I just got my replacement OG Droid from Verizon, and I might just sit on it for a while and stop getting my hopes up for a device that will be released "soon".

I seriously doubt that Verizon's going to give anyone "unlimited" LTE data. Will be happy to be proved wrong though.

i think this debate is what the entire delay has been about. Verizon planned to release the TB thinking it would be ok to let a few early adopters onto the unlimited plan with an LTE phone. Then after the iPhone dropped and they saw how much strain was put onto the network (a la AT&T 2008) it caused second guessing. Then they began to look more seriously into coming up with a 4G tiered plan. However, by this time they saw how well the iPhone on VZW was going, and didn't want to release the TB as a competitor until the iPhone's sales died down a bit. Then, well whaddya know? the iPad two release date is up, so at this point its finding a date to release it. The further back they push it the fewer customers will be on unlimited data with a 4G phone before the tiered contracts roll around.

That is all speculation, based on all the speculation, but its my take on the matter.

I hear you so the difference between you and I is that I specifically want Sense not MotoBlur so I'm really screwed. I would not buy the Bionic, even if it came out first. :'(

But who says this isn't what they want? I really dont know what to believe anymore. I've never bought into the whole Apple running VZW debate, but with the way this whole thing has gone down, you just never know.

I don't think that it is out of the question for this phone to come out in June now. I have been trying to find from CES where vzw said the Tbolt specifically would be out in Q1 and I cant find it. The CTO, the man who would know just about better than anyone what the deal is with this phone said 1st half of the year. Its just all absurd.

If VZW does not get this phone out before CTIA, they are going to destroy the sales of this phone among the people who help others make tech decisions, and that would be us, the tech enthusiasts. If they tarnish our view of the phone and allow us to see what the future holds, they basically destroy word of mouth and blog information on the perks of this phone. Just my 2 cents on the matter, but I think it would be a DISASTER if this phone isn't out before the 22nd of March. If it does come out in June, this phone will in fact be old news, and bigger and better things will for sure be released in Q3 that will blow it away.

Well what they are doing now is a terrible business model but they're doing it. If it's not released 03/31 then I wouldn't put anything past them. Earlier today Bennnnn gave me some hope but after reading that article I'm disappointed...again.

You can't find it because they never said it.

They said that the Xoom would come out in Q1, and that the four LTE phones would come out in the first half of 2011. Then the woman on stage added parenthetically, "with some coming as early as March."

BREAKING NEWS! THE DUDE AT THE VZW STORE SAID THUNDERBOLT TO BE RELEASED THIS MONTH!!!

So I went in to trade-in or donate the phones. No go on selling them back (only on line and they don't want any of them besides Tour, Droid and iPhone4) so I went and donated them to HelpLine. On the way out of the store I asked the VZW dude "So, when are you going to have the TB" and he said "sometime this month". So you know I had to ask "Sooner or later?" he replied "I don't know but you can reserve a time to buy the new iPad2." I replied "I want a 4G Phone is the iPad2 a 4G phone?" and his reply was "The Thunderbolt will be in this month." Oh brother...

I don't know about that. The VZW iPhone has posted some pretty hefty numbers, which I'm sure is making Verizon very happy- plus they reserved the right to tier 3g data on the iPhone, so their doubling up on those customers. Plus, as has been noted several times, aside from forum readers and bloggers, the genpop has no idea about a delay, and honestly among techies its still in the anticipation/excitement phase, and the month of "delays" from Feb. to now hasn't hurt the TB's sales, IMO. HOWEVER, if April and May pass, then we've got a whole other story. One month (which was "ahead of schedule") on a release is ok. Two quarters, however is an eternity in technology. It's coming, I'd just like to know when...

After reading Bennnn's recent posts, it appears he is now sanctioned by VZW to leak these unofficially official leaks. In other words he has almost admitted he cannot leak anything without VZW's permissions.
Somehow that does not make sense.
