There's a storm brewing...

I believe your right about skype calls being seperate from noted data usage.. but I cant find the demo where the rep says it.

if thats the case would make sense to drop my min and pay for the data plan might be cheaper that way.....hmmmmmm now im really leaning towards that option.......

I live in Wichita and we already have hspa+ with at&t which they have throttled down at the moment but its still getting around 4-5 speeds and lte is coming but I refuse to pay that much. At&t will not make me change plans when they open up their new network full throttle here so I am good. I just think between the price of the phone and the plans which haven't been announced but we all know that is what bennnn is referring to since bmx has already said it also, its not going to be worth it. The phone is pricey enough and I would guess we are looking at 50 bucks for 5 gigs at best. That's just to much for me. I'll stick with a little slower speed and pretty much the same phone on at&t for 99 bucks and be happy. Im sure the thunderbolt will be incredible but its just a phone!! And no phone is worth that kind of money.

Didn't feel attacked, not attacking you. Just putting out good correct info for people to read and think about in their decision process.

i suppose i poorly stated my argument in my jumping ship post. all of the features are awesome yeah i agree as of now it looks like a great phone. but in my opinion, a great phone isn't worth much if i have to pay more for it, have to worry about data usage, and can't use all of the features of the phone as a result. my priority hierarchy goes, unlimited data, price, then features. i'm willing to settle for less features as long as i can have unlimited data locked in for 2 years. i'm even willing to pay a little more for unlimited data and 4g (where its available). finally i'm willing to sacrifice giving up all the awesome features of this phone if i'm going to have to pay more to have 4g (especially since it'll be ~6 months before they have 4g in my area) with a data cap.

from what i have read (pure speculation at this point) vzw is releasing other 3g phones (droid x2)... this, along with what they said about the iphone 3g tiers, leads me to believe that unlimited data plans are on their way out. i'd rather lock in a 2 year contract with unlimited data and deal with not having the bleeding edge tech...

Somebody already started one.

just tired of long booting up process and time clock, freezing, not enough on board memory is the problem......hope i can get the STORM2 for the time being..........there are numerous people here that have the STORMS 1&2 that want to switch..........

Honestly, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come out this month. It will be out in sure by the end of next month but this month is not looking good.
I'm hearing rumors that this phone isn't coming out this month, or even this half of the year.

Is this true?

AGREE!!!! if its 50$ for data plan i would seriously have to consider my options..... my daughter is more important.. again would look into dropping my min and add data plan if its around the same price i pay now is what looking for, if i can pay less even better.........

No, this is not true.

All signs point to a week from tomorrow as the launch date (possibly a day earlier if you pre-ordered from Best Buy and got the shaft last month). While this could theoretically get pushed back another week or two, it won't be pushed all the way back to July or later

But the release date questions are so yesterday :p The big question now is will there be an unlimited LTE plan at this phone's launch or not :S

There is no way its going to be 50 for 5GB. That is the data rate on laptop air cards. There still is a possibility that those of us on an unlimited plan will be able to keep it until our next upgrade 2 years from now (Actually 20 months) for 4G LTE. Also for those of you coming from different carriers. As long as its before the tiered pricing starts. If not, 5GB should go for something around the $30 range maybe a few bucks more but not 50.

Even though invade no phone (not renewing my AT&T contract), like everybody else I'm willing to wait another week or two AS LONG AS THEY SAY SOMETHING. The price of the phone isn't a problem. Hell even the price of the plan isn't a problem. The only problem is I need a phone before I leave in the beginning of April.

Sorry to put personal business in here.

Greeeaaat.

This means I'd have to wait all the way until the 17th to even know if I'll have a phone or not.

More than likely you will know a day or two before the release date... since my guess is they will make some formal announcement at least a day or two prior to releasing it... at least that is what I'm hearing and reading on this thread.

so one feature that i've been puzzled about (i'm not a techie so sorry if this is obvious) is the dolby surround... in a cell phone? how does this work...?

IMO, They need low priced entry level plans to lure people into smartphones. If they price the <5Gig plans too high, they'll loose out on a lot of people that would otherwise upgrade.
