There's a storm brewing...

I'll probably try both out (because that's how I am), but I'm having a tough time getting too excited about any upcoming phones because of size and form factor options. I want to take all 3 phones, add LTE, and then mash them together.
  • Fascinates form factor and 4" screen size (fits nicely in the hands and pocket)
  • Stealth's new Super AMOLED plus screen technology.
  • TB's build quality (especially the back), HTC Sense (the email, dialer screen, and browser), reputation for hackability and software updates, and a working GPS.
At CES the Stealth felt too big and had weird plastic buttons, but I was drooling all over its Super AMOLED Plus screen. I examined the TB under the bright lights of an In & Out Burger, so the TB was at a disadvantage there, but it felt solid in my hands and overall I left with a yep that's an HTC Sense phone kind of feeling. Nothing wrong with it and if you're new to Android or are are due for an upgrade, this phone is going to blow you away. If you're in the small minority (like me) that wants to get blown away with something new every 6 months, I wasn't quite there. That's an important thing to point out, because I am not the average consumer. Most people I know buy phones on contract and when they buy one, they are jumping to something that is likely a pretty good upgrade, especially if they are crossing platforms. My expectations are unrealistic and criticism should be taken with a grain of salt. These guys are doing the best the can at a very rapid rate. Adding LTE, improving build quality, tweeking their UI's, boosting performance, adapting to new network technologies, etc. But they don't want anything they put out to be a one-trick pony, so there will always be something just a tad better a few months down the road.

That said, I am so over the Fascinates GPS issues (yep they are back again) that the TB would probably blow me away if it works well. Thank goodness for Adrynalyne and his ROM's. He keeps me sane.

So would you say upgrading from a Droid 2 to a thunderbolt would be a good upgrade?

So I go into the Verizon store today because I need to buy a new charger for my punk a$$ BB Storm2 and at the end of that transaction I ask if they have a TB for me to play with. I ask this because I don't see any TB advertisements anywhere in there, as opposed to Best Buy who has quite of bit of advertising including a dummy phone. So she says they don't have one for me to play with. I said, "you know you have a whole android community out there who is beyond disgusted with Verizon right now." She acknowledges our frustration..and mentions that she sees I'm eligible for upgrade. I tell her don't remind me!! I further explained that whenever VZW gets off its butt and releases this phone there's now way I'd buy it from them, that I'm going to BB instead because at least they seem interested in selling me the phone. Then she starts trying to make excuses for them and saying that we should want the phone to work properly and I told her we totally get that and yes we do want the phone to work properly, our problem is the deafening silence, the fact we don't know if we will have the phone this month, next month or the end of frickin' June for goodness sake!!! I mean seriously, I told her if I were her I'd be lookin' for another gig because after this refusal to care about this segment of your customer base AND the fact that Best Buy offers the Buy Back program no intelligent person would buy a phone directly from them anyway and for job security alone she should start lookin' into Best Buys and Nebraska Furniture Marts benefits and consider applying for employment with them because Verizon SUCKS!! She was polite but if Verizon didn't have the best network I really would switch to another carrier but their network is the best but that said I will never purchase another phone directly through them because this not knowing...UNACCEPTABLE!!!! -end of rant- :'(:mad::mad:

I would love to agree... unfortunately the text killed my brain and I am having uncontrollable seizures...

Really? And people wonder why they get crappy customer service back? If you come in with that crappy attitude, you're going to get a crappy attitude right back. Like it's that poor girl's fault the phone is delayed. You're the reason why CSRs hate their job. Lame.

It's too bad the world isn't perfect like you are.

end of rant!

Depends on the user. Personally, I would say yes because of the bigger screen, the speakers and LTE. Not to mention it is an HTC phone which can be rooted a lot easier and the phone quality looks awesome. Plus it comes with a bigger micro sd card preinstalled

I understand that. That wasn't what I was asking. And again this is unusual, but it got me thinking. More than likely it won't happen and maybe it can't happen.

I wanted to know if we are tied to a 4G data plan, would it be possible to only pool the data from that 4G plan to use against your tier (2GB, 5GB, etc.) for times when you are using 4G data and when your not or in a 3G area to offer unlimited 3G data along with that plan. So you are only eating up 4G data when you actually use it otherwise use the 3G unlimited data plan. That way you wouldn't need such a large tier of data (2GB vs. 5GB or more).

I thought of this because I travel a lot for my job (usually by plane) and I am sometimes in areas that will not have 4G for a while. Now this will get phased out for users with 4G phones, but for others it may be beneficial. Just sayin

Possible -- yes, I would guess it would be possible -- technologically wise it isn't much different than the old "roaming" thing.

Have a different what-if for you -- what if tiered data pricing is per plan instead of per line? Like, instead of $30 per line for unlimited, it's $50 + $5 (or something) for each additional line -- then shared data allowances, etc. I personally would prefer unlimited on each line like we have now -- but I'm wondering if something like this would be economically feasible for someone like Verizon -- it would be a game changer vs. the competition -- and would only be SW and billing changes to make it happen since there is already shared minutes and data allowance tracking capabilities in the system....

Comments on Verizons FB post about the iPad 2 are great...
This is ridiculous...
And btw, I don't think theres such a small majority seeking the thundebolt...
We just got the iPhone so the iPhans might be looking for it, but long time Verizon customers, or customers before a month ago actually have been shopping Verizons phone lineup for much longer.

If you REALLY like a hardware keyboard you lose that when you go to the thunderbolt. My friend is stuck on hardware keyboard and wont even look at the thunderbolt.

Well I love the EVO form factor so thats why I'm so interested in this phone.

Enough. Find a burger forum then.

Normally I would agree -- and enforce this -- but in this threads case I'm looking at it this way: I don't see the harm in people side tracking now and then. This thread is a speculation thread, that exists solely to hear one person come here and make announcements on a time schedule that nobody can predict. It's not like there are 30 pages of burger talk, and the thread is bound to wander a bit here and there, and usually gets back to the current 17th, 21st, and 24th predictions. That is why I've consolidated all the updates into a single post. So, if weeding through all this stuff bothers you, you can find his updates in post #1. The "search" feature also allows you to search by username, if you only want to see Bennnnn's posts.

If there is a huge development, outside of what Bennnnn passes along, there will likely be a new thread about it.

Now, if this were happening in a thread about battery life, well we would definitely have some moderating to do :p

Lets just say its coming before everybody's birthday that's not in march, well maybe the end of march. I'm hoping to get it before my birthday which at the end of April.

And Cory this thread is going to easily set a new thread count record if the old one was somewhere around 4,200... we will do that in an hour or two.

Agreed. When people conversate they cover varying topics without necessarily straying from the main subject, its just human nature. Getting pissy about it towards people doesn't help.

Seriously excited for this LTE experience since i actually live in a market where its deployed already.
