There's a storm brewing...

a. Yes I'll be at BBY at 9am sharp. I work nights so I don't need to call in. I will leave a little early instead. They let me do that sometimes. Usually my shift ends at 9.
b. I already have a pre-order.
c. Two-year. But since I have other lines on my plan, I can easily port their upgrade eligibility to my line if I want to upgrade early. One of my other lines is due for upgrade in September and I get NE2 credit on that one.

I believe he's a full-blown network engineer (very coveted position), and testing is just a small part of his job. A "tester" is typically someone who takes what someone else has produced and makes sure it works according to the laid out requirements; it's a very "lowly" position with respect to engineering and is thus rarely a title on its own.

This is true. I'm a Web Development Analyst (.NET, PHP, etc) and everything I create I have to test it, then another Developer tests it, and then it goes to a QA tester. The QA tester doesn't do anything except test and then push the files from Dev, to QA, and then to Production.

The testers usually don't really know a whole lot about the actual item or the technology making up the item they are testing unless they take it upon themselves to learn.

I don't know if I can get any Android phone on Thursday now. I hope VZW can put it on my bill.

I'm not at work that day, and not at home.

If they have a preorder you can order via phone if it's not an option. Of course you wont be around to get it either (unless you have it shipped to where you are).

I definitely think verizon can put it on your bill.

so i have another stupid question. if bb has exclusivity how can vw sell it the same day? assuming its the 17th wouldnt bb have it a couple days earlier?

Did BB tell you that you have to make an appointment when your TB comes in?

1-Buying after work (Saving my vacation days for a true vacation)
2-Will try to call and reserve one but my Verizon store is corp and always have large inventories even new phones
3-2yr contract. I'm tired of buying phones each year. If I want to switch in a year I'll give to my wife and use her upgrade next year

Can you get the NE2 $100 discount at Best Buy?

Instead of playing the waiting game, how about we play the planning game?

  • Showing up at VZW/BB 9AM sharp on Thursday morning?
  • Calling to reserve a phone so as to speed up the checkout procedure upon reaching the store? Is this even allowed/possible, or is it on a store-by-store basis?
  • Full retail, one-year, or two-year and why?

1 - If I can not pre-order online, then I will show up at the store Thursday morning. I blocked my work calendar just in case... :)
2 - Don't plan to call ahead
3 - One year - I like having the option of selling the Bolt in one year to cover most of the cost of a new device.

Im ready. Im in California, I have Thursday off. Im going up to BB at 9. I have 450 bucks ready to spend on the TB. No preorder though. My preorder is at a different best buy. So im hoping they have enough units or else im going to have to wait :(

Same, except strictly Java and PHP for me. I also use the term "architect" as opposed to developer or analyst because I am trying to get more into a web design/UX kind of role, fueled off my heavily technical background in development and infrastructure.

But, yeah, QA testers are hardly technical. They are kind of your "everyman" who goes into a testing phase blind and presses buttons and moves sliders and such to see if the UI and features are intuitive and robust enough for the average person to be able to operate. On the other hand, if only your developers are testing a product out, then you will get a crappy product because they'll only tend to go through a program the way they intended it to be used as opposed to in ways that may break it or are less conventional.

I'm fairly sure if someone said "exclusivity" they probably meant that it would not be in Radioshack or any other mobile seller, except for Verizon... it's Verizon's phone... Verizon will sell it on the 17th.

He's giving the information that we wanted to know.. and yet we still bash him... that's just not right... Thanks Bennnnn. we've waited this long a few more days won't kill us.. besides.. as my wife says... " Goodness !, it's just a phone!"...

They just said they'd call me when the phone is available and I can come in anytime and pick it up. They didn't tell me anything about appointment. This is NH .. our stores are hardly ever crowded.

1. Yes I'll be there around 9 AM... I actually have the day off for the tournament, and I'm usually at the office around 9 or 9:15, so I might as well head on over and get it. Better early and make sure I get it as opposed to procrastinate and miss out.

2. I have to draw the line at calling in and hoping they hold onto a copy. Getting there early is one thing, calling in is another, at least for me. It's a personal thing.

3. Two year contract. NE2 just came into play this morning for me, so I'll have the credit and from there I'll just stick with two years. Verizon has been nothing but good for me and I'm not too concerned about the phone being potentially outdated in two years. I think it will age just fine. I don't root or whatever that is and I don't need dual core. I just want the best smart phone I can get right now, and this will be it.

I honestly think it means they are the only non Verizon retail store selling it because Walmart and Target sell Verizon phones also.

Yeah.. as what a rep told me when i called corporate office number, is that BBY was authorized to sell the phone first before verizon was able to get them in their stores to sell.. that is a bummer.. but hopefully.. we believe.. it's very close now.

I don't know if I can get any Android phone on Thursday now. I hope VZW can put it on my bill.

I'm not at work that day, and not at home.

When I talked to my Corporate VZW rep about the Tbolt and iPhone (a few weeks ago) she specifically said you can't put the iPhone or Tbolt on your account.
I've been bugging the bejesus out of her for the bolt.

I got the iPhone for my co-worker to test and use and my VZW rep was right.
I had to put the 199 plus tax on my CC, they couldn't just bill it to my account.

I think if they say no to a corporate customer they'd probably say no to a consumer. We've been a customer of theirs for a long time and have about 80 different lines with them.

Then again, I could be wrong, just don't want you to get hopes up and thought I'd share that part with you...

Here's to green beer and new tbolts!!
