There's a storm brewing...

This seems to be BB dependent. I have been told by multiple people at my local BB that my phone would be $199 after I applied the gift card. They are also giving me my NE2 credit so it will be $149. I would definitely just clarify w your local BB if you pre ordered.

Wow. I can't believe where we are right now. There is so much evidence for Thursday that it almost CAN'T be wrong. That said, I will be convinced one way or another tomorrow when there is (or isn't) an announcement.

Either way, it feels like Verizon botched it again.

1) If Thursday IS the day, Best Buy would seem to know it, Wirefly would seem to know it, and SOME Verizon stores would seem to know it. Think about that. Either their internal communications are SO awful that not everyone "gets the memo". Another possibility is that information was sent out, but it was asked to be kept under wraps until the official announcement. If that's the case, then they have NO control over their corporate stores or 3rd party resellers.

2) If Thursday is NOT the day, they've missed their latest (and best, IMO) chance to issue snarky, condescending statements on their social media outlets, and their store associates are giving out information based on rumors. You can't tell me they aren't aware that the entire phone world, from HTC on down to BB, Wirefly and MULTIPLE blogs have christened the 17th "the day" If it's not, you would think they would say something so that once again there is not the appearance of a delay.

Something, somewhere, isn't right about all of this. Once again, that something points to Verizon.

I think it's probably #1.

I have spoken to two corporate stores who confirmed the date. I have spoken to two telesales reps who confirmed the date. I have been put on a list so I can preorder tomorrow following the announcement(if there is a preorder), and all the evidence we have seen today, and the past several days. Its coming on st patties day, BMX has confirmed, and Bennnnn has also. So lets get those credit cards out and get ready to spend!!

Just spoke with my local Verizon store in Colorado and they said they were told the TBolt would be in this week and they would be selling the phone for the same price as BB. They weren't giving an exact day but were taking a waiting list that they'll call the day before release...I'm first on their list.

Anyway, I have a pre-order at BB but I'll see who gets the phone first.

So either way the phone is $300.

$299 for non pre-order.
$249 + $50 from pre-order.

This was gone over earlier. BestBuy Mobile cleared it up last week on their facebook page:

"Best Buy Mobile The $50 pre-order deposit is in the form of a gift card which, if used on the phone purchase, will be applied as tender, not a discount. With a pre-order the pricing is $249.99 (plus tax) and then you can apply the $50 gift card as tender and owe the $199.99 (plus tax) remainder.
March 5 at 6:57pm"

They reiterate this on the 8th. There may be others replies as well. Check it out: Best Buy Mobile | Facebook

Just called a local Verizon store. A guy named Rich said the TB
will be available on the 17th. First come first serve only.

When asked about the data pricing and if it will be
unlimited(Hawaii=no LTE as of launch)?

He replied that when the phone is launched there be "NEW" information
regarding the details of a data plan. HE did not want to elaborate any further.

Hopefully, it is unlimited and reasonable at the same time!

Hey Corey if it is released on the 17th that day you should change the tilte to how many days have you had your thunderbolt. I still see some doubt among the droidians. With out an official press release there can always be another delay but I will keep fingers and toes crossed.

Seriously, you'd think the blog community would be careful after getting burnt by going on record w/ release dates... apparently not. I mean, no announcement #1, #2 we don't even have pricing or anything. I don't know what to think anymore but I will be pissed off AND laughing hard if they're all wrong again. There will be broken keyboards all over the country if it's not on the shelves Thrs.

On a side note. I pre ordered on Day 1 (way back). What 'should' I be paying BBY? $250 total w/ my 50 dollar gift card?

Don't misinterpret, I think Thursday is the day:D I just wanted to point out that after all the snarky "You'll know here first" BS of the past month, the managed to botch even THAT.

I logged into the bank today and double checked the budget for the week (just transferred some Money to savings that will be unavailable for about a week) Might have to put a bill off till Friday, but I'll be Thunderboltin' Thursday!

I just called my local corporate store, I asked if they'd be doing pre-sales. He said "As far as I know it's first come-first serve". That sucks to a degree, because I can't guarantee that I will be able to get the phone. Thankfully, most people work on Thursdays, and I took Thursday off anyways. I hope I'll be able to get it. If I was able to get the gold copy of Ocarina of Time, I think I'll be able to get this.

my verizon store already put the charge of the phone on my account . she said all i have to do is walk in and walk out. WOOT Im all excited , and the phone is not even for me . It is for my wife.

My local best buy hasnt said a thing. Not even called after i preordered it like 1 1/2 months ago.

I haven't heard a word from my local BB either and I'm first on the list, so they said. Nothing from them but the email a week or so ago saying I had something on pre-order and they would let me know when it came in.

Like leehblanc and kimmy have already said in previous posts, and a few others including myself have said in other threads, with BBY preorder, we have to pay a total of $250 = $50 Gift Card + $200 OR use the giftcard for something else and pay $250 total.

But if Verizon is also is selling it at $250, there is no way Best Buy can sell it for $300

This sux!!!!! Every VZ store I went to today had no idea and the one chick told me that even if they announce it I would have to wait until they got some in their inventory and she checked the computer and didn't see any there. I really hope this works out like everything is pointing to for the 17th. I know how the reps are but talk about bursting your bubble. I have to get new phones this week cause I can't take this piece of crap enV any more and my daughters phone can't even hold a charge any more.

Man this is hard core!

Hey Guys.. super excited we're getting a phone on Thursday. I have a silly question for a lot of you out there. I'm going to be coming off a BB and never had a android. That being said.. All of these updates that are to come "later" to put on the phone such as netflix, skype, htcsense, newer os system... how do you get those updates? Will the phone come with a usb that you plug into a computer and it let's you know if updates are available? Netflix, skype, do you just download those from the app market place? Just used to the way blackberry does it so looking for info to make sure the bolt is always up to date. Thanks for the responses!

Remember, the store employees are shift workers. They may not have had a chance to read it, didn't know it was there, or didn't understand or didn't care to read it. I am sure vzw has a spam everyone comm system.

As usual, we agree :) That said, you would just think that an imminent product launch would be "required reading" LOL

Updates for the most part are over the air.

For android Firmware? Simply goto into your settings menu then goto system updates and update?

For Apps? normally when you enter the the android market.
There will be a message to update if any of your current apps
have an update available. And again it is a simple touch of the
screen to agree to update and then to download and install.

It is a breeze!

Maybe I shouldn't broadcast this, but in case no one else has pointed it out (and apologies if anyone has), wirefly's comment to their iPhone 4 vs. Thunderbolt "schmackdown" is a little different than the other wirefly comment I saw linked around here. It says:

"The ThunderBolt's list price is $249.99, but check with us for a special Wirefly price."
