There's a storm brewing...

On the topic of Ben^5's identity - we don't know. He could be bsing us, he could be legit. The reason everyone believed him, by the way, is because he confidently stated that he verified his identity with the mods and not one of them said otherwise until today. Normally such a statement would be shot down almost instantly if it weren't true, which in turn would prevent someone from being ballsy enough to make that claim in the first place without double-checking. The fact that he was/is so coveted is not surprising at all.

In our defense, we have 191 forums to moderate and it's impossible to read every single post in every thread. We do respond to all reported posts. That said, this was not the first time someone spoke up about this, I spoke up in posts 1127 and 1137 a few nights ago, and after being sent the same info the other mods were, I asked him to come in here and straighten this out in the interest of maintaining the integrity of our group. They are also volunteers with lives and the mod that spoke up had a bunch of other stuff going on this weekend.

More opinions and guess work as far as I'm concerned... I'll wait to hear something more from Bennnnn.

I tend not to fully believe that, considering we've heard from testers saying that they already have the final firmware ready to go, but who knows.

I don't know if I believe it either. The same guy also "GUARANTEED" me the 28th of Feb and that did not happen. I was simply relaying the information he sent me in his reply email. Hopefully its out this week or next??

I apologize if I implied that you guys weren't doing your jobs - I am very well aware that the T-Bolt General Discussion forum is just one of many forums, full of hundreds to thousands of posts daily, that the mere handful of you guys have to moderate. I am glad that you guys came in when you could to set the record straight and of course for your general day-to-day moderating abilities.

I was just stating the order of the events. Ben^5's statement wasn't challenged for half of a week or more, and as such one cannot be judged poorly for falling victim to a possible troll attempt, something that was implied a few pages back by another forum member (or five :P).

In general, though, the back-n-forth in this forum is a bit extreme, almost similar to the kind of stuff you see on TV news. Everyone on this forum is intelligent enough to realize this, so I don't see why we can't just hold back on blindly following one guy's statements to the T and getting your expectations up unreasonably high (in preparation for a hard crash landing the next day), but we can also avoid calling him a troll the second something he said would happen did not occur because you have to keep in mind how bureaucratic things can get with large corporations.

From My VZW Business Rep today. Not sure if its true or not, just relaying the info:

As of right now they are shooting for End of March- Mid-April. I was told this morning by one of our Data managers that they were hoping for a new software update for our beta devices TODAY so our testers can sign off on it.

Tim,
Whats the latest on this "so-called" phone? We really need to get these other 2 lines transferred soon. Please try and find some concrete information for me on the t-bolt.

Thanks,

Neil

At what point does the delay outpace the life cycle of the technology? i.e. At what point in 2011 are ThunderBolt specs officially out-dated?

Thats a great point. If they wait too long the phone will no longer be appealing!

FYI guys... this may not be a strategic planning document but rather a visual representation as to where they are right now.

We don't know how old that is... it could have been made yesterday and all it shows us is that as of right now (or when it was created) that Thunderbolt is next.

There could have been a version of that a month ago that had the Thunderbolt sooner.

It also lends a little credence to the original March 17th date.

Anything that doesn't help the Thunderbolts "case" is just going to continue to upset everyone here, regardless of the informations context. Context went out the window a LONG time ago here...

Well at least look on the bright side. According to that picture the next step (literally) is the Thunderbolt. So Panda may be correct on a March 17th release date.

Ummmmm...... Bennnnnn any comments?

Pretty sure Bennnnn already said the 17th as well.
