yeah there's a thread on that. Seems like a poor design choice to me since most likely whatever you're doing if you're using the kickstand is going to be battery intensive. http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...nderbolt-mini-usb-location-going-problem.html
I think that was Verizon's decision, notice all there Android phones have the port on its side.
The Incredible was going to have a desk dock that charged while it was docked but that version of Sense didn't support landscape, so they scraped the whole accessory.
I'm lead to believe that this is the same case with the ThunderBolt, except this time, Sense 2.0 supports landscape
yeah, it has a kickstand but thats with emphasis on using it at a location you want to quickly watch something and theres no place to dock or charge it
besides, you can easily charge it with the kickstand in portrait orientation.
DO NOT use the dummy phone as your comparison to how this would work, because the Dummy is NOT entirely the same thing, it has the same design and EXACT weight, but thats pretty much it, the quality of the materials are not the same.
The other logical reason i can come up with is Verizon probably doesn't want third parties taking advantage of the port location and sell cheap desk docks or something (yeah stupid reason to think up)
But given the Desire HD's dock and car mount aren't even out yet and it launched back in November, says we may get a desk dock, but we already know were getting a car mount.
and in my personal opinion, the location of the USB on its side rather than on the bottom, is ideal for landscape docks
