There's a storm brewing...

I have to say I am starting to get a little disheartened with this phone. I have been following this from about January and it has been a huge cluster$%# for Verizon. Here is what is getting to me:
1-Price: We heard rumors from $199 to $299. At $299, it is $100 more than all the other smartphones. Is is really worth that much? I would say $250 would be fair but $300 is really milking it.

2-Data plan: Some of us was willing to pay the higher phone price thinking we would be grandfathered into $30 unlimited data. Now with the rumors of this phone being released with tiered pricing, it doesn't look that attractive. And I do not live in a 4G zone, I wouldn't want to pay a premium for that. And there are now even rumors that this is being released without 4G turned on. Come on Verizon, give something back to your loyal customers.

3-All the cool features for this phone (skype, netflix, etc) seem to be coming "shortly" after release. Already there are rumors that VZW is working into contract some quick OTA updates. It is good to know this phone will be improved but are they releasing a unfinished product.

4-Release date: I am not going to argue if this phone has been delayed or not. I feel there were target dates that leaked and were missed. The communication from VZW to its employees, business partners and customers has been embarrassing. And I still can't believe, after all of this the CTO of VZW has the nerve to say, they are ahead of schedule on LTE. Is his head in the sand the last few months. I will say any release past the 17th will be a mess.

5-And what ever happened to the free mobile hotspot that was rumored a while back. That seemed to die quickly. Is VZW offering us anything extra with this phone?

So saying all this I think I am going to have to wait until VZW announces the phone to see if I am still in. If they release a $300 unfinished product with tiered pricing and no extras, I am buying a DInc of DX.

PS: And it seems we are getting the cupholder either.

tablet

Thats exactly what i thought, i mean i could use either one as my internet browser to replace my laptop (which takes forever anymore) but thats all i used the laptop for, nothing more than that.

The iPad was tons smoother, the XOOM, i think the software just isn't up to snuff yet, it is the first tablet version of the OS.

I did like the screen on the XOOM alot better than the iPad's though, oddly enough...

I am an android phone user and an ipad tablet user that just me anyone else?:)

For me what it comes with is worth the price even though I wouldn't mind if it was cheaper. Also that 32gb card included makes the price the same as their other high end device with the 4g as the exception.

32GB iphone=$299 w/3g
16GB iphone=$199 w/3g

Facebook Tweet by the HTC Sales manger rep was pulled that's not shocker. I can go on rant about verizon, or bestbuy or htc but I won't. Verizon will release the phone when it's ready.

Have you ever thought about that fact that if you buy your DInc you are still paying your 2400.00 large to Brother Big Red over the next two years...you think they care that you didn't buy the bolt?

Because I am an american and believe in paying for the value of the service. Faster would mean more valuable. If 30 bucks is a lot of money for you you may want to reevaluate spending 250 on a cell phone.

Last I checked $30x24 >> $250...

Pretty fair summary. There is certainly some room to be underwhelmed...

Yea, it adds up fast...we pay almost 200 a month right now for a Storm 1 and a maroon EnV.

Seriously the 4G data plan should be unlimited for 30 bucks!

So tomorrow will be a long day.....we will all be waiting for Monday to see if there is a release date.

Hi! I was just gone all day. But I have to admit there were a few times I was wondering, "what's going on with the Thunderbolt?" because I really really hope it arrives on the 17th. I have to say thanks to Cory for updating the thread's first post and noting it in the thread's name, because I just went straight to the post and saw what Ben had to say. At the end of the day, isn't that really the only thing we should be paying attention to? This thread really is pretty great and the fact that I don't have to sift through the last 30 pages or so is awesome. Thanks Cory and thanks Ben. Hope we see an announcement for the 17th!

PS... KEMBA!!!

I've had a Storm 1 for almost as long and I still have the original. It may be the oldest "working" Storm in existence.
you should call BB and see if they wanna buy it back for R&D studies, because if its still works, that borders a miracle
