The problem is there's a chance we'll have the upfront cost of option 2 with the monthly cost of option 1, so $300 with tiered data (like 5GB is $40). So we get screwed both ways if we get (horribly done) tiered data with this already expensive device.

Can anyone fill me in on what updates or changes was made known today?
I read briefly on twitter while at work that some Verizon stores were telling there customers to come out on the 17th to buy a ThunderBolt and that they'll go fast!
Then i come home and see on the interwebs a leaked roadmap of devices coming to a certain retailer, which includes a 10" HTC tablet. Thats definitely the HTC View tablet
But aside from that, any other info i might've missed?

I have called two best buy's and 1 Verizon store and 611 and all said they have nothing. The Verizon store said they have "heard" the 17 but have nothing to back that up. The rest said they have nothing at all.
I hope you didn't think I was bashing him. I thought what Chrisy wrote was cute.

That's good to hear, I just wonder why no store I have called has 0 information as of yet. Kinda makes me wonder.
OK well it said tiered pricing will start with the thunderbolt I would tend to believe the chief financial officer and he asked where so i gave a link to what he said no need to start anything buddy
he used to work for verizon, but still somehow knows things. not sure how. i asked him in a tweet and not answering me. He did DM me a message saying march haha.

I got it at Best Buy, they still give you a 30 day return policy, 14 days to get out of the contract, 30 days to switch it to a different phone.
Regardless, we'll see soon what their status is in the Best buy systems once Jayishere goes to work.
You can bet they will tomorrow though
I can pretty much guess this is how they do there launches, they ship, make sure the date of arrival is what they intended and then announce the date the day after shipping the units.
This is indeed good news, now all we need is BMX's poem to complete our fantastic day, well I know i had a fantastic day anyway
Same here. I called 3 Verizon stores and 2 Best Buys and they all said the same thing. No release date. Either this phone isn't being released this Thursday or Verizon and Best buy has the most clueless workers in retail.

If the phone is here this week or not great... however I'm pretty concerned about tiered pricing. That aside, forums and the bloggers will know before anyone gets an official VZ announcement. Stores will start getting them and we'll start seeing pictures n' stuff.
