These 'Pixel 2 problem!' stories need to stop

So I got the wife to download Google duo so that fixed the FaceTime issue. Now my issue is playing music in my truck. With my iPhone I just plug it into the USB in my center console then into the phone. With the pixel though, that didn't work. Says it couldn't read it in my 2010 Tahoe. Guess I'll have to run to best buy and pick up a Bluetooth auxillary receiver.

Any suggestions?

Android doesn't normally work in the USB connector unless you have Android Auto built in to the vehicle. That's not a Pixel issue.

I bought this one:

It works well for listening to music and making phone calls. Since I paired it as a "Trusted Device", it also responds to "Ok Google" commands. It doesn't fast charge, but it does charge quickly enough if you have a good cable to go with it.

For cables, I went with Anker cables. I used some no-name braided cable before and it didn't even charge. The phone would say it was charging, but I was actually draining my battery. The Anker was also braided and now it charges flawlessly as well.

I think the problem is when you don't use the Bluetooth in your vehicle or you don't have a Bluetooth capable vehicle.

I believe the problem is when you are using a Bluetooth headset and you call up Google Assistant. Once Google Assistant is activated it does not respond to further commands given through the Bluetooth headset microphone. It's as if Google Assistant can't hear you talking.

There was an entire thread on this topic in this forum.

The original post I replied to mentioned that his vehicle didn't have BT5, and he was assuming that's why he was having issues. I've heard about the not being able to use Assistant through BT headphones/headset.
