They should've called this model the 'Bezel Edition'

Eh, I do not mind paying for what I want. I find Apple to have higher quality for taboet accessories. The Nexus 7 has better specs, but I want improved functionality for work. I am not going to play games on it or stream movies. My tablet is not a consumption device like most Nexus 7 users need. I really do not care about an improved screen or wireless charginf. I need actual business apps. If Google could make an effort in enterprise, I would buy an android tablet.

The iPad Mini provides more utility than the Nexus 7 does for me. Simple as that.

Sounds to me like you need a Galaxy Note 10.1, or 8 if you want REAL business, enterprise, and utility functionality. Anyone who actually needs those items would be crazy to think Apple does it better. Unless they haven't actually looked into it and just listened to what the general public assumes is the case.

I like the big bezels on the top and bottom. It gives me a place to put my thumbs without making accidental weird gestures that makes my screen go "Oh you wanted to watch youtube videos? Well your thumb says otherwise."

apple fanboys have no logic. they're just angry because apple isn't the status symbol that they want it to be. they're mad because all of the androids are getting attention when they walk into a room instead. apple products are going the way of the monocle.

In fact, the larger bezels make it much easier to hold in landscape mode.

That's kind of the point though... I'm using my tablet in portrait mode 95% of the time. I actually like that it's thinner on the sides, as it's easier to grip with one hand. But when I look at it in portrait mode, all I see is big, black bars on the top and bottom. Of course, I KNOW it's not really, but my brain kept insisting that it was, drawing my attention away from the screen and on to the bezels. That's why I said I wished they had been a different color. Sure they would've been more noticeable, but it would've been more obvious that they were bezels, and not giving me the illusion that they were part of the screen that wasn't actually showing anything.

The bezel doesn't take away from the screen size it's still 7 inches. It's still easier to handle with one hand than its predecessor. Absolutely not a deal breaker.

And it's a lot lighter than my HTC Flyer...

i'm okay with this - don't have the tablet yet but i cant believe how many times i've hit the settings and back buttons on my galaxy s4 ge - can't hold it in one hand without triggering something

BTW: I am the very LAST person to care about cosmetics, so it's not that. It's just annoying having the screen surrounded by so much bezel.

Those two statements seem completely at odds with one another. Although others have pointed out how useful they find the bezel for gripping/holding the device, the only things you've mentioned are the looks, which seems to be nothing other than a complaint about the cosmetics. It's not as though the bezel changes the device's actual operation in any way...

Love my new Nexus 7, but I get it if the thing just looks ugly to you. I find a lot of the "squarish" tablets to be blocky and unattractive.

Nah, I have no issues with what the tablet itself looks like. It's more of an annoyance, like having a dead pixel right in the center of your screen, and I'm talking about the kind you can always see, no matter what is on the screen. A dead pixel is not a cosmetic issue (as in, 'this device is not sexy'), does not affect the operation of the device, and you can probably train yourself to ignore it, but every once in awhile, you're going to look at that son of a ***** and be super annoyed :P Every time I looked at the bezels, my mind kept telling me that part of the screen was being obfuscated by them. I've heard this goes away after you've been using the tablet for a little while, but I dunno ...
