Went to my local Best Buy to pick up the new Nexus 7, and was surprised they already had one on display. And, holy crap... you wouldn't think the top/bottom bezels would look as big on the actual unit as they look in the picture. But unfortunately, they areThing is like 70% screen, 30% bezel, and just feels awkward in portrait mode.
Don't let anyone tell you that the bezels are about the same size as the original. Fact is, this thing is not as wide as the original, which makes the bezels stick out even more. I walked out without one; this is no longer a 'must buy' for me. Hoping somebody else eventually makes a 7" Android tablet that's worth a damn.
Yeah, I did not care for the old Nexus 7 or the new one. I bought the iPad mini instead. No regrets.

I just think my biggest hang-up would be paying more for less.
ok, out of curiosity . . . why are you here? You said that you had no interest in the gen1 or the gen2 and completely happy with your iPad mini. This is a Nexus 7 forum . . . so . . . why are you here? I don't go to the iPad forums because I have no interest in those products, so it strikes me as odd that someone would go to a forum for a product in which they have zero interest.
I just don't understand how people are willing to throw away the highest-resolution screen and most powerful processor in a 7" tablet, along with stock Android 4.3 and a heap of other goodies ? plus all of that at $100 to $200 less than other tablets ? just because the top and bottom bezels are 10% larger than those on other tablets. In fact, the larger bezels make it much easier to hold in landscape mode.
