They should've called this model the 'Bezel Edition'

When I saw the first generation Nexus 7, the bezels ruined the aesthetics for me.

Now I am willing to make a compromise because of how awesome the new N7 is.

I have no problem with the size of the bezel portrait or landscape. I find there is the right amount of real estate for me to comfortably hold it in different positions and not interfere with the screen. I have large fingers so maybe that plays into it as well.

I'm one happy camper that I got one though...it rocks!

Yeah i was going to say the color black goes all the way to the bottom for longer look to the eye also as opposed to the silver in Jerry's first pic.

I wish the top and bottom were silver, or some other color. It probably wouldn't give me the illusion that part of the screen was blacked out that way

Can someone explain to me the 3G/LTE capabilities of the new N7 when it get's released later? Can you just pop in your sim and you're good to go, using this as a 7" phablet?

Actually guys, when I took those "leaked images" the device felt a little thicker. The device out of the box feels much thinner than the device I had to take pics of. Also, the screen on the one I had seemed to come closer to the top and f the device. While I don't care about the bezel but it does seem the out of the box device has more bezel at the top.

It sounds like someone didn't get over that Sean Young wasn't cast as Catwoman in Batman Returns. Do the bezels make you as mad as Grease 2 did?

IMO, if your biggest gripe is the bezel size of a tablet, you are complaining about an amazing tablet.

This is very comical that this could be a 'dealbreaker' for people because they aren't that big (the exact same size as the first gen). It makes them look bigger because the side bezels are narrower and the device in general is narrower. Using the tablet all weekend, it is simply a non issue.

I've found the bottom bezel to be a perfect place to put my thumb while holding it in portrait mode, with my fingers on the back. It balances perfectly. If it was smaller, I wouldn't be able to do that as easy.

I'm not bothered at all by the same top-bottom bezels on my new N7 and I rather like the thinner side ones. My wife is also loving the new-to-her 2012 version :)

Went to my local Best Buy to pick up the new Nexus 7, and was surprised they already had one on display. And, holy crap... you wouldn't think the top/bottom bezels would look as big on the actual unit as they look in the picture. But unfortunately, they are :( Thing is like 70% screen, 30% bezel, and just feels awkward in portrait mode.

Don't let anyone tell you that the bezels are about the same size as the original. Fact is, this thing is not as wide as the original, which makes the bezels stick out even more. I walked out without one; this is no longer a 'must buy' for me. Hoping somebody else eventually makes a 7" Android tablet that's worth a damn.

Yeah, I did not care for the old Nexus 7 or the new one. I bought the iPad mini instead. No regrets.

I get why huge bezels on phones are a turn-off, but when it comes to a Tablet (even a 7" version) there has to be somewhere to hold the dang thing. If it was an edge to edge display, I bet a lot more people would be starting threads about dropping it and breaking it. Not every traditional electronic complaint has to apply to everything in the industry.

I just think my biggest hang-up would be paying more for less.

Eh, I do not mind paying for what I want. I find Apple to have higher quality for taboet accessories. The Nexus 7 has better specs, but I want improved functionality for work. I am not going to play games on it or stream movies. My tablet is not a consumption device like most Nexus 7 users need. I really do not care about an improved screen or wireless charginf. I need actual business apps. If Google could make an effort in enterprise, I would buy an android tablet.

The iPad Mini provides more utility than the Nexus 7 does for me. Simple as that.

ok, out of curiosity . . . why are you here? You said that you had no interest in the gen1 or the gen2 and completely happy with your iPad mini. This is a Nexus 7 forum . . . so . . . why are you here? I don't go to the iPad forums because I have no interest in those products, so it strikes me as odd that someone would go to a forum for a product in which they have zero interest.

I'm not even interested in his answer to this. I'm still at a loss for who would buy a 7" tablet for workplace productivity in the first place. The finance dept. must have really clawed back the budget there! I'm also quite entertained by the drama filled replies as well because I'm trying to imagine a match between someone who discusses business enterprise and then uses words like "butthurt fanboy" and a bunch of angry venom the very next post. Must be an interesting business buddy lol. You in PR by any chance? :D

All of the name calling and insults in this thread need to come to an end, please.

I just don't understand how people are willing to throw away the highest-resolution screen and most powerful processor in a 7" tablet, along with stock Android 4.3 and a heap of other goodies ? plus all of that at $100 to $200 less than other tablets ? just because the top and bottom bezels are 10% larger than those on other tablets. In fact, the larger bezels make it much easier to hold in landscape mode.

You'll see earlier in this thread that they're not even oversized at all compared to other tablets. It's a perception thing due to the thinner sides
