Thickness in pictures ...

Using my math, I came up with 0.53. Just saying. Anyway, half a millimeter is nothing to me. I'm just glad the thing isn't 13mm thick. I think the shading of the photo makes it look thicker than the HSPA version but I'd doubt it would be noticeable by much when you held them both.

Edit: just realized this has been mentioned already

the other thing you have to keep in mind is its very hard to compare two different photos, taken at different times and places which could have an effect on the device itself given the roundiness of them both. photoshopping the picture to only include the outline of the phone isnt going to be spot on...

I think the only way we're going to get a good comparison is if each device is caught in the same picture taken at the same time :)

Thanks for the comparison photos Phil, it helps put to rest the "a little thicker?" question. And we obviously can't make any further judgements until we actually hold the device. I for one am Very glad to see the bigger battery!

Someone with Photoshop skills should match up the colors so we can get a better idea.

Yeah I think they honestly just had the phone in really bad lighting or they made sure the original press shots (GSM version) had lighting that would be almost impossible for any normal person to reproduce.

Looks great.. Below 10mm is more than acceptable! Plus a bigger battery, which I'll fully embrace and all for the support of the LTE speed we will get.

I'm ready to buy, not to mention I just discovered that my upgrade also gets a 50 dollar discount. If it launches at 299.99, I'll get it for 249.99.

Common Verizon. I am ready.

And we complain about battery not lasting a whole day. The thinner the device is, the shorter the battery life will be. Also, the media volume won't be as high either.

well...tell that to motorola, who were able to squeeze in a 1,780mah battery into 7.1mm of thickness. lol

i feel sorry for the ReZound. it's such a thick phone with such a measly little battery. you would think that with that kind of thickness that it'd have like a 2,500 mah battery. but nope.

there is something about the LTE version where the color is different as well. the 3 contacts on the side also look cheaper. the phone doesn't look as awesome.

The lighting angle on the two phones looks different anyway. The GSM one looks like it's lit up from the side, where the LTE is lit from the top.

Exactly and if you look at this video it's the exact same color as the other videos on Engadget that show the Verizon version.

I think it has to do with the picture also. The thing I notice is, the curvature on GSM model looks a little more pronounced (due to being thinner). I think when we actually get the LTE version in our hands, we won't know the difference. I'm certainly not deterred from getting one because of this picture.

The OG Droid is 13.7mm thick, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to live with how thick the LTE Galaxy Nexus is. :)
