looking for recommendations for a case with the following features:

- thin (I don't want an otterbox or something clunky)

- transparent (I bought a nice coral blue phone...I don't want the case blocking the color)

- fingerprint sensor cutout (I don't want a case that has one large cutout for the camera/flash/fingerprint scanner. instead I would like one that has a specific small cutout for the fingerprint scanner so it is easy to locate).

any tips?

The thinnest I've found is the Samsung 'clear' case. Unfortunately, it's not transparent. Fortunately, it matches your blue coral phone so it only accentuates the blue (I'm actually using a blue one with an Orchid Gray S8 and now it looks just like a coral blue one).

There's a thin sleeve (flexible) from Spigen, but reviews aren't great as it seems to pop out the corners because it's so thin.

This guide can also help. But I really recommend the Samsung one. Truly, truly thin and light and 'barely there' considering it's a 'hard' case. Just remember that you definitely don't get the same amount of protection. It'll help to avoid scratches from surfaces, but if you drop it, that won't do much good.

Thanks. Honestly i think i am just being cautious with the case. I never used to put a case on my phone, so the "barely there" protection is better than nothing

Still, you want SOMETHING at least on the back. Putting the phone down on a table constantly will cause scratches and it's too beautiful not to notice a tiny mark. So at the very very least use thin-film protectors

thanks! this one looks awesome.

Word of caution: That's NOT a 'barely there' case. You WILL notice it and it does take some of the infinity-display aesthetics away. It's not a bad case, mind you, but just letting you know (I switched from one to the Samsung one and the difference is striking).

So you would recommend the Samsung clear one instead ?

Yup, if you want something that's barely noticeable. Only problem I have with the Samsung one is that they don't offer a 'clear' option. Yes, the color matches your phone, but still, it's not clear. But it still looks good; like I said, I'm using the blue coral one on an Orchid Gray and the back looks now just like the blue I wanted.

The AC Article mentions one that's also a hard-case with material widths as thin or close to the Samsung one that ARE clear (and cheaper).

if you buy the Peel case , get the silver case for the black phone. It's transparent. It's very thin. Phone feels naked in the case. check you tube, I believe there is a video. I like my Peel case on my black s8+.

I just received this on Thursday and it has quickly become my favorite. To me it is very minimal and adds almost nothing to overall bulk. The buttons although covered operate very easily. There is a slight raised lip on each end which MIGHT protect the screen. It also provides a very good grip. Just to clarify this is the Luvvitt Clarity.

I ended up getting the official Samsung Sillicone hard case. It fits perfectly, has a nice lip on front, my bottom ports are all available through one big cutout. I'm really glad I did. I was pondering getting their thin case but I'm not one to put a case if it's not going to have minimal protection against drops.

I've tried about 10 different cases (yes 10) before resorting to this one which I thought was a bit too expensive at first (I found it on sale). I had the Crystal Clear Spigen Ultra Hybrid Galaxy S8 Case suggested by @keyzlife but it arrived at my door pre-scratched. It also has a very oily feel, quite slippery and it is also a huge fingerprint magnet so beware of these two things. Plus it doesn't have the fingerprint cutout you asked for.

I stopped using the ultra hybrid for the same reasons. I ended up going with the matte black presidio by Speck.

I tried 3 Spiegen cases for the S8, they were all crap. So I was going to get the matte black from Speck (strangely I was never able to put my phone in the transparent case from Speck) but then I saw the official Samsung case which I like better (I wasn't a fan of the lines on the back of the Speck).
