Things left over after ROMing?

Hey everyone, I'm still new to rooting/ROMing in general so bear with me...

Over the past few days, I have installed a couple of ROMs just playing around and seeing what they had. The first one was Liquid Gingersense, and the second was BAMF 1.8.6. When I installed the Gingersense, I also installed one of the radios that was recommended (first installed the ROM then the radio). This one was too buggy for me (it would constantly restart) so I then installed the BAMF ROM after reading on here that it was one of the most stable ROMs out there. I didn't bother changing the radio simply because it worked fine. After playing around with that for awhile, I started to have some boot issues. (I determined it was because I was trying to change the font).

After all of that, I changed back to the stock ROM, installing it rather than doing a restore because my original backup became corrupt. The problem is, is that I still have some left over 'stuff' from the other ROMs. For example, on the BAMF ROM, you had the option to change the animation/transition speeds, this still remains on this ROM. Also, under widgets, I have all of these broken widgets, and it looks like things from the Rosie utility.

So... My question is, how do I get rid of all of these lasting effects? I followed the installation of these ROMs by the book (doing a wipe data factory reset, cleared the cache, and cleared the Dalvik cache). I did do a Titanium Backup of the original OS before I installed the new ones, and noticed that in BAMF it automatically restored all of my programs and settings. Is it possible that Titanium Backup automatically backed up all my settings/apps in BAMF too? Titanium Backup also restored things in the new stock OS as well... Could it also be BusyBox?

Thanks for all the help in advance!

Sounds like you did everything correctly... personally I've lost all confidence in Titanium Backup and no longer use it... I started using MyBackup Root, and just backed up specific apps data like Angry Birds Rio and Timeriffic, then just used normal app sign in to get all the other apps back up and running... sometimes that can be a little time consuming, but I know I've got a cleanly loaded ROM.

I do not know anything about BusyBox... sorry.

When you run a batch operation for restoring or backing up, only restore apps and data. Don't restore system data... that's what will screw up your phone.

A lot of these roms are now coming with their own apps included so be careful what you restore. If you're going to use Titanium, its best to skip the batch operation and just go through each app in the list and restore them one by one...just restore your market apps.

Like FatBoy said.. MyBackup works pretty well for backing up and restoring apps. I like to use a combo of both Titanium and MyBackup. I mainly use Titanium for freezing apps and MyBackup for backing up/restoring apps, messages, phone log, bookmarks, etc.. You can even freeze apps now with MyBackup for root users but I never tried it.
You can use either app.. just make sure you're not restoring system data.

Okay, thanks for your input guys! I'll try deleting my Titanium Backup folder and installing again and see what happens..

Once two roms mix together.. the only thing you can do is a data wipe. Do you have a nandroid backup of a working rom? Flash back to it and then flash the new rom again without restoring any of the old system data.

Of the original before I started messing with things? No, that backup got corrupt and I couldn't use it anymore... The OS's that I installed had Titanium Backup built into them or something, because it would restore my Thunderbolt back to its previous state as if I didn't even apply the new ROM...

Just another question though, ClockworkMod Recovery has an option to where you can format the system folder (under advanced) should this ever be necessary to format this?

Okay... after some tinkering, I found that my Google account was automatically downloading files and restoring them, NOT Titanium Backup. This is what was messing things up, not TB. After working around that I was able to load BAMF 1.8.6 and no problems as of yet! :)
